Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS stands out as the roomiest vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, with three rows of seating for six or seven people and up to 94 cubic feet of cargo space. It is positioned as a full-size SUV that blends the comfort and space of the S-Class luxury sedan with some off-road capability, which helps explain why it feels more like a family-focused luxury hauler than a traditional truck-based SUV.

For buyers who want a large luxury SUV with strong space, a polished cabin, and a long list of comfort and convenience features, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS remains an appealing choice. 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a meaningful share of the market to target.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS is presented as a large luxury SUV with a polished cabin, practical convenience features, and a strong focus on comfort and versatility. It also offers a wide-screened, tech-forward interior with dual 12.3-inch displays, MBUX, heated front seats, MB-Tex upholstery, a Burmester surround sound stereo, wireless charging, and power-folding third-row seats.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a large, feature-rich luxury SUV can become expensive to keep in top condition if you skip maintenance or overlook wear items.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the listing matches the seller’s claims. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on the third row, seat mechanisms, electronics, and any signs of heavy interior wear. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since a well-kept luxury SUV matters more than a low sticker price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,344 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $62,929, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $62,929 sits slightly below last year's $71,004.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. If you keep the SUV clean, documented, and accident-free, you should be in a stronger position when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.37% compared with last year.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $45,826, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $62,929 average.
• It is the only GLS available then.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $69,158, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $62,929 average.
• It adds fresher tech and more standard equipment.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around path if you want a strong mix of inventory, cleaner listings, and a softer price trend. If your priority is saving money first, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly alternative, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newer updates and are willing to pay more.
