Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS stands out as the roomiest vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, with three rows of seating for six or seven people and up to 94 cubic feet of cargo space. It is positioned as a midsize SUV that blends the comfort and space of the S-Class luxury sedan with some off-road capability, so it fits best if you want a family-focused luxury hauler rather than a traditional large SUV.

It also brings a strong equipment list, including dual 12.3-inch displays with MBUX, navigation, a Burmester surround sound stereo, wireless charging, and three years of Mercedes Me Connect services. Standard safety and convenience features such as blind spot assist, 360-degree cameras, adaptive headlamps, auto high beams, parking assist, power-folding third-row seats, and power-adjustable second-row seats add to its appeal.

33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a meaningful chance to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS presents itself as a well-equipped, comfort-first luxury SUV with a broad mix of space, comfort, and utility. Its appeal is strongest if you want a premium three-row vehicle that emphasizes everyday usability and upscale features.

It does have tradeoffs, including third-row seat access, touch-sensing controls, reduced front headroom, and diminished total cargo space compared with the previous generation. For long-term ownership, those packaging compromises mean you should pay close attention to how the cabin fits your needs before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report to confirm the listing’s background and verify that the vehicle matches its advertised condition. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you plan to use the third row often or want to check how the touch controls and cabin features are holding up.

Focus on wear, interior condition, and how well the seating and cargo layout work for your daily use. Because this SUV is built around comfort and utility, the details inside the cabin matter as much as the mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,331 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $63,618, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $63,618 sits slightly below last year's $70,571.

That price movement suggests the GLS has become more approachable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face more competition if the market stays soft. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The strongest resale position will likely come from a clean-history example with desirable equipment and strong overall condition.

Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $46,072, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $63,618 average.
• It emphasizes flagship-size luxury and everyday usefulness.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $70,126, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $63,618 average.
• It adds refreshed styling and updated tech for a more current feel.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the balanced choice if you want a roomy, well-equipped GLS with softer pricing than the newer model. If your priority is lower purchase cost, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want the freshest updates, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
