Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota GR86 stands out with its emphasis on an engaging driving experience, reinforced by its rear-wheel-drive platform and lightweight construction. This new generation is powered by a 2.4-liter boxer-four engine producing 228 horsepower, an upgrade from the previous model, which significantly enhances performance and response. Expert testers praised the GR86 for its precise steering and improved handling, making it feel more planted on the road compared to its predecessor. Additionally, the car's redesign presents more aggressive stylistic elements while maintaining its sporty aesthetic—highlighted by functional features like large vents and LED lighting. Inside, it caters to driving enthusiasts with stripped-back controls and comfortable, bolstered front seats, though rear seating remains cramped. First-time buyers will appreciate the GR86's impressive value, coupled with accessible tech like an 8-inch touchscreen and enhanced driver aids in the Premium trim, albeit some advanced features are exclusive to automatic versions.

It is beautiful, well built high quality feel both interior and exterior. It has excellent power to take off from a stop, as well as to launch to quickly pass slow drivers on the highway. It handles corners easily at higher speeds. It actually handles fine in excessive rain and ponding of water. It is a very fun car to drive and the MSRP was very affordable
