Used 2023 Lexus GX for Sale nearTrenton, NJ

How much does the 2023 Lexus GX cost?

Prices have softened 3.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 1,328 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Lexus GX earns 4.75/5 from owners and 6/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 7/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, proven reliability, powerful V8 engine, off-road capability, and comfort. That lines up with the GX’s intended use case: you’re buying it for towing, trail use, and a more traditional luxury-SUV experience, not for the latest tech or the most modern road manners.

The trade-offs are clear: you should expect poor fuel economy and outdated technology, and the third row is cramped. Even so, if you want a rugged SUV that still feels upscale, the GX fits that brief well.

With 36.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful market flexibility if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to proven reliability, and it also emphasizes that the GX is dependable and comfortable enough to be a favorite for buyers who want a rugged yet refined SUV. The expert driving notes reinforce that sense of durability by describing the GX as a traditional body-on-frame SUV with a standard 4WD system and hardware built for snow, mud, and rough terrain.

Lexus also includes useful ownership-friendly touches, including three years of Lexus Enform Remote. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and outdated design can matter more here than on newer rivals, so condition and maintenance history deserve close attention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report, verify service records, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection. Focus especially on signs of heavy use, since this SUV is often bought for towing and off-road driving, which can accelerate wear even when the vehicle looks clean.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is the most stripped-down version, while the Premium adds more equipment and the Luxury brings the most upscale content. The base model can be optioned with heated and ventilated front seats, headlamp washers, and a tonneau cover, while the Luxury trim includes a premium stereo and more available convenience features.
• Powertrain: You get a 4.6-liter V8 with 301 horsepower and 329 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic and standard 4WD. It’s strong and smooth, but it returns 15 mpg city, 19 highway, and 16 combined.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System-style content includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, and automatic high beams. The GX does not include lane-tracing assist or road-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The GX uses a 10.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. It also includes Lexus Enform Remote, and the interface is improved but still dated compared with newer rivals.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is rated at 15 mpg city, 19 highway, and 16 combined, which is a major ownership trade-off if you drive a lot.

Which 2023 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Lexus GX is offered in 4 trim levels: GX 460, Premium, Luxury, and Black Line.

Here's the short version:

• GX 460: This is the entry point, and it gives you the GX’s core strengths: V8 power, standard 4WD, towing ability, and the rugged character that defines the model. It makes the most sense if you want the GX experience without paying for extras you may not use.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to Luxury pricing. If you want a more complete daily-driver setup, this is the trim to target.
• Luxury: This is the right pick if you want the most upscale GX experience, including the richer audio and the most available convenience equipment. It suits you best if comfort matters more than price.
• Black Line: This is the limited-production choice, with darkened exterior details and the panoramic monitor standard. It’s the trim to choose if you want exclusivity and a more distinctive look.

The safety package still leaves out lane-tracing assist and road-sign recognition, even as the GX includes a solid set of standard driver aids.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Lexus GX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to shop patiently.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,328 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $54,480, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $55,200 sits slightly below last year's $57,106.

That decline suggests the GX has softened a bit in the market, which can help you as a buyer but may temper short-term resale expectations if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the GX’s value is being supported more by its niche appeal than by broad mainstream demand.

Its strong identity still matters: buyers who want a V8-powered, body-on-frame luxury SUV with off-road ability are a narrower audience, but they can be loyal. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Lexus GX safe?

The 2023 Lexus GX has not been crash tested by either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus equips the GX with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert, adaptive cruise control, parking assist, and automatic high beams. It does miss some higher-end driver-assistance features, including lane-tracing assist and road-sign recognition.

The main caveat is age: this SUV was originally engineered for the 2010 model year, so its underlying structure is older than what you’ll find in newer rivals.

Should I buy a 2023 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the GX’s V8-powered, body-on-frame character with strong towing and off-road appeal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $47,403, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $55,200 average.
• It emphasizes rugged off-road ability and five-passenger practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-year pricing, inventory, and the GX’s core appeal, the 2023 is the better path. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable giving up some of the current-year market context, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly alternative.
