Used 2023 Kia Sportage for Sale nearBaltimore, MD

How much does the 2023 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 6.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,908 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Sportage earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its great value, spacious interior, and impressive features, and they also like the modern styling. The expert review reinforces that appeal with distinctive design, roomy packaging, and strong tech. The main trade-off is that performance is fairly pedestrian, and the overview also points to a more practical, value-focused personality than a sporty one.

That makes the Sportage a strong fit if you want a compact crossover that feels modern, useful, and well equipped for everyday driving. Good and great deals account for 33.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for value, features, and the kind of everyday usability that helps a vehicle feel trouble-free over time. The expert review also emphasizes Kia’s long powertrain warranty, which adds confidence for long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about a known reliability red flag and more about choosing a well-kept example, since condition and maintenance history will matter most over the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX gets cloth seats and an 8-inch infotainment screen, while higher trims add the larger display and more upscale cabin touches. The EX and above also bring a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the SX and above add a leather-wrapped shift knob.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the review notes that it is not especially quick.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, and rear backup sensors. EX adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while SX and above add adaptive cruise control. Blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist are reserved for the SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige trims.
• Infotainment: EX and above get a 12.3-inch touchscreen, while the base LX uses an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top interface still uses wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless charging, rear USB-C ports, navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and HD Radio are standard above LX.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas Sportage is rated at 25 mpg city and 32 highway with front-wheel drive, or 23/28/25 with all-wheel drive.

Which 2023 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Sportage is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX Prestige, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is also the least compelling if you want the Sportage’s best value story. You get the basics, including cloth seats and the smaller infotainment screen, but the review makes clear that the model becomes more competitive at the EX trim and above.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, rear USB-C ports, navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, HD Radio, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while keeping pricing relatively accessible.
• SX: This trim is for you if you want a more premium-feeling cabin and more convenience tech. It adds the panoramic curved 12.3-inch driver display, adaptive cruise control, and the Harman Kardon stereo, but the powertrain still keeps the driving experience from feeling especially quick.
• SX Prestige: This is the right pick if you want the most upscale version of the gas Sportage. It includes the features that make the cabin feel richest, and it is one of the trims that gets Blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.
• X-Line: Choose this if you want the rugged visual treatment, including 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss- and matte-black exterior trim, and a gloss-black roof rack. It is more about appearance than capability.
• X-Pro: This is the trim to buy if you want genuine off-road-oriented hardware. It adds BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, specific drive modes, and smaller 17-inch wheels, but it also brings more road noise and a less settled on-road ride.
• X-Pro Prestige: This is the most feature-rich choice for buyers who want the X-Pro look and capability plus the top safety tech. It also gets Blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.

The safety package is strongest on the higher trims, especially SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige, which get the most advanced Kia driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,908 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,273, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $23,273 sits slightly below last year's $24,817.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has softened enough to create a more favorable entry point for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it is time to resell. The current market also shows that shoppers still have plenty of listings to compare, which can keep resale competition active.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sportage comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist and lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, and rear backup sensors. EX adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while SX and above add adaptive cruise control. The most advanced Kia safety features, Blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist, are limited to the SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige trims.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings a redesigned cabin, standout styling, and strong tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,393, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,273 average.
• It offers a stylish, well-equipped feel with an available turbocharged engine.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the newer design, better tech, and stronger overall appeal. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play, especially if you can live with its older-generation packaging.
