About 2023 Jeep Renegade
Overview

The Renegade is Jeep’s smallest SUV and the only one in its lineup that shares parts with a few Fiat models. The subcompact off-roader offers surprising interior space, real off-road capabilities, and funky styling that sets it apart from everything else in its class.
What’s New for the 2023 Jeep Renegade
Jeep cut the front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration for 2023, leaving the tiny SUV with trail-conquering all-wheel-drive (AWD) as standard equipment.
Design
The Renegade got a facelift in 2019, but its overall look hasn’t changed much since its introduction almost a decade ago. Its upright shape and short overhangs give a beefy, muscular look, and the classic front-end design is instantly recognizable as a Jeep. Wheel sizes range from 17 inches to 19 inches, depending on the trim and options package, and LED exterior lighting is available.
Powertrain
All 2023 Renegades come with a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 177 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard, along with AWD. Though it’s not the most powerful engine in the world, the Renegade’s tiny four-cylinder does a decent job of moving the SUV around town and on the highway. Passing at highway speeds takes some effort, however, but the Renegade tows 2,000 pounds to make up for its shortcomings on acceleration and power.
Interior
Jeep built the Renegade’s cabin with plenty of "Easter eggs" and adventurous-looking accents. Cloth upholstery comes standard, but higher trims come with leather, and there’s surprising space across both rows. That said, the SUV’s large roof pillars create severe blind spots, and interior small-item storage leaves much to be desired. Otherwise, there are plenty of hard plastics and other rugged-feel materials to make buyers feel ready for the trail.
Technology
An 8.4-inch touchscreen comes standard, running Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Uconnect infotainment interface is responsive and intuitive, making the system less distracting to use while driving. SiriusXM, navigation, Bluetooth, and USB inputs come standard. Jeep offers an audio system upgrade, but options for the Renegade are not as plentiful as they are for other SUVs in the automaker’s lineup.
Safety
Jeep includes several advanced driver aids as standard equipment, and only adaptive cruise is held back for the top trim. Lane-departure alerts, lane-keep assist, forward collision warnings, hill-start assist, and a backup camera come standard.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hasn’t tested the Renegade since 2021, when it earned mixed results, including one “Poor” score in the moderate overlap front crash test. Headlights were rated “Poor,” “Marginal,” or “Acceptable,” depending on the trim, and the LATCH system was rated “Acceptable” due to being located too deep in the seat cushion.
Pricing
As of this writing, pricing for the 2023 Jeep Renegade starts at $31,590. The top Limited trim starts at $34,440. There are a few added-cost options available, including a $1,745 Convenience Group and a $2,295 Sun and Sound Group, which adds a panoramic sunroof and an upgraded stereo.

I have wanted this car for a long time! For a Jeep, very gas efficient. Great mileage and sleek design. Still can see above cars in traffic but small enough to fit into spaces meant for sedans. I highly recommend this car. Didn’t mention there are endless safety features in this car??? I feel incredibly safe driving this car.

This my second Renegade, first was 2018 Sport and the second I have now is 2023 Upland with sun & sound pkg. After having a Wrangler for 20 + year my crawling days are pass me. I have more then I need in my Renegade and I visit the gas pumps way less.

This Jeep has all the features I wanted except for sensors for the front bumper. Love the heated seats, steering wheel and dual zone climate control and of course the four wheel drive option if I need it. It’s spunky off the line and onto the highway, but my combined fuel economy is 24mpg, a bit Lower than I expected but way better than the PT-Cruiser I replaced and roomier as well. I feel it is a good value but I would feel better if the full warranty was better than 5/60k.
