overall

Summary
With 110 currently listed for sale near Knoxville, TN and an average price of $32,372, 71.8% of 2023 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Honda Ridgeline 4.38 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Honda Ridgeline stands out by rejecting the usual pickup formula in favor of practicality and purpose. It is presented as a midsize truck for buyers who need something capable of handling modest tasks without the compromises that come with a traditional pickup. That makes it especially appealing as a daily driver, and its exceptional practicality is one of its clearest strengths.
It also earns praise for its great safety ratings, while owners commonly highlight its comfort, smooth ride, versatility, and useful storage space. The main tradeoffs are just as clear: its technology is outdated, and it falls short on towing capacity. It is also not as capable as some rivals off-road, so the Ridgeline makes its case more through everyday usefulness than through hard-core truck credentials.

A great all round vehicle that us reliable and versatile - It drives more like an suv than a truck, so its quite comfortable and quiet, but is also can haul and store quite a bit in its bed and trunk area

Great truck! Rides as good as wife’s SUV. Didn’t want a full size vehicle; they’re just too big and bulky. Doesn’t feel/drive like a truck, but has all the features as one. Very smooth ride. Love the “hidden “ compartment in the bed. All around good features.

I absolutely love the way this truck handles. It drives so smooth but is rugged like a truck should be. Super comfortable seats and all those little luxurious extras too!

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with comfort, versatility, and useful storage coming up again and again. That kind of praise usually matters most when you want a vehicle you can count on over time, not just one that impresses on a test drive.
Honda also includes two years or 24,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with aging technology and the truck’s inherent capability limits.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are only part of the picture. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on condition, maintenance records, and how well the truck’s features work in real-world use. Pay extra attention to the technology and driver-assistance systems, since those are among the Ridgeline’s weaker points.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Sport is the base model, and it is the one most likely to leave you without the extra convenience and safety equipment found higher up the range. RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition add more upscale equipment, with the Black Edition bringing the most premium presentation.
- Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. It is tuned for smooth, refined on-road driving rather than serious off-road work.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on Sport and require an upgrade to RTL.
- Infotainment: The truck uses an 8-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and basic HondaLink services. RTL-E and Black Edition add navigation, premium sound, cargo bed speakers, and wireless smartphone charging.
- Fuel efficiency: The Ridgeline averaged 22.6 mpg on a road trip, and its official ratings are 21 mpg combined and 24 mpg on the highway.
Which 2023 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2023 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Ridgeline formula without the extra convenience and safety upgrades found higher up. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the model, but it is also the trim most likely to feel stripped down.
- RTL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the important blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert features that are missing from Sport. If you want a more complete daily-driver setup without jumping to the top of the range, this is the one to focus on.
- RTL-E: This trim adds navigation, a premium sound system, cargo bed speakers, and wireless smartphone charging. It suits you if you want a more fully equipped Ridgeline and are willing to pay for convenience features.
- Black Edition: This is the most upscale version, with the same added tech as RTL-E plus the most distinctive appearance treatment. It is the right pick if you want the most premium-feeling Ridgeline.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert start at RTL.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Ridgeline?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,318 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.62% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 88.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $31,689, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $31,910 sits slightly below last year's $33,454.
That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper what a future seller can expect. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. The Ridgeline’s practical reputation should help support demand, but resale will still depend on mileage, condition, and equipment.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Honda Ridgeline safe?
The 2023 Ridgeline earns mostly favorable crash-test results from the IIHS and top marks in NHTSA testing, including a four-star rollover resistance rating.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on Sport and require an upgrade to RTL.
One caveat is that the driver-assistance tech is described as aging and not as smooth or refined as what newer Hondas offer. The adaptive cruise control can also struggle to maintain a consistent following distance, and the lane-departure warning can feel intrusive.
Should I buy a 2023 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.62% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It offers a practical, comfortable truck setup with strong everyday usefulness.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $29,583, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $31,910 average.
- It carries over essentially unchanged after a facelift.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $34,709, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $31,910 average.
- It adds a TrailSport trim and broader tech updates.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and everyday usefulness, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 offers a lower entry price with a similar core formula. If you want the newer updates and can spend more, the 2024 is the upgrade path to consider.
