How much does the 2023 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 6.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,366 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Honda Pilot earns 4.42/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfortable ride, and room for up to 8 passengers, and the overview also points to stylish design and plenty of cargo space. On the downside, the expert notes call out merely average fuel economy, while user feedback says the engine performance and infotainment system can feel underwhelming.

For your use case, that makes the Pilot a strong fit if you want a family-focused three-row SUV with broad everyday appeal, useful tech, and a cabin that prioritizes comfort and practicality. 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and solid for family use, with praise centered on roominess and everyday livability. The expert driving notes also describe the Pilot as tuned for comfort, with smooth brake feel and a calm, confidence-inspiring demeanor in normal driving.

That combination suggests you’re looking at a used SUV that should be easy to live with over time, especially if you prioritize comfort and practicality over excitement. As always, a careful pre-purchase inspection matters most on a family hauler that may have seen heavy daily use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, electronics, and driver-assistance features, since those are the areas where family SUVs often show wear or reveal hidden issues. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance history, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the least expensive entry point, but the EX-L is the value leader because it adds a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, second-row sunshades, and more safety and technology features. The Touring and Elite trims add the stowable second-row center seat, while the TrailSport and Elite bring the multi-view camera system.
• Powertrain: The Pilot uses an all-new 3.5-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, while all-wheel drive is available across the lineup and standard on the Elite and TrailSport.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors.
• Infotainment: Step up to at least the EX-L if you want the larger infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and USB ports in every row. Higher trims add a multi-view camera system, while the Touring and Elite bring navigation, Bose premium audio, remote monitoring and control via smartphone app, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD model is rated at 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. AWD drops that to 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the TrailSport returns 18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Pilot is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but the EX-L is the better value if you want the Pilot to feel properly equipped for family duty.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim because it adds the features most shoppers will actually notice day to day, including the larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, a wireless charger, leather upholstery, and more safety and convenience equipment.
• TrailSport: Choose this if you want the Pilot’s off-road-capable character, since it adds the rugged hardware and all-terrain focus that match its more adventurous mission.
• Touring: This trim makes sense if you want more premium convenience and tech, including navigation, Bose audio, remote app features, and the stowable second-row center seat.
• Elite: This is the top choice if you want the most equipment, including AWD standard, the head-up display, fully digital instrument panel, and the most advanced camera setup.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking and parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite get the surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,366 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,572, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $36,572 sits slightly below last year's $39,264.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means a future seller may face a market that is still adjusting downward from prior levels. If prices remain stable or recover, a well-kept Pilot should benefit from its broad family appeal and strong practicality. If depreciation continues, the best-protected examples will likely be the ones with cleaner histories, stronger equipment, and better overall condition.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2023 Pilot received a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on all trims and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite include surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

In testing, the advanced safety features behaved well, and the adaptive cruise control was described as smooth and well controlled. One practical caveat is that off-road driving can trigger proximity warnings and low-speed automatic braking too easily, so you may want to disable some of those aids in that setting.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model is fully redesigned, with a more rugged appearance, more power, and an off-road-capable TrailSport model.

The bottom line: The 2023 Pilot is the right pick if you want the redesigned version with stronger styling, better capability, and a more modern overall package. If your priority is simply stretching your budget, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but the 2023 gives you the most complete blend of space, comfort, tech, and versatility in this generation.
