How much does the 2023 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 3.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,081 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Honda CR-V earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, quality interior, and strong features, and they also respond well to its safety and economy. The CR-V’s roomy cabin and cargo space make it especially appealing if you want a practical compact crossover that feels easy to live with every day.

The main trade-offs are the irritating transmission, uninspired styling, and lack of technological innovation. Even so, the CR-V’s comfort-first setup and strong utility make it a sensible fit if you value space and refinement over flash. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe the CR-V as smooth, well-equipped, and safety-minded, and they also praise its economy and quality interior. The expert review reinforces that impression by emphasizing the SUV’s refined ride, solid build quality, and well-executed everyday usability.

Honda also includes a complimentary maintenance plan for two years or 24,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that older-model reliability concerns may still influence how carefully you should inspect service history and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete maintenance documentation. Focus on overall condition, especially signs of heavy use, uneven wear, or neglected upkeep.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX and EX-L share the same exterior look, but the EX-L adds leather-wrapped seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a larger touchscreen, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. The EX is the more affordable entry point, while the EX-L is the better-equipped choice if you want more convenience features.
• Powertrain: Both trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. It is strong enough for everyday driving, but the transmission can drone under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist. The lane-centering system can feel uncertain in some highway situations.
• Infotainment: The EX has a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the EX-L upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the test vehicle returned 29.1 mpg on a mountainous evaluation route, and the EPA estimate cited in the review is 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2023 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is offered in 2 trim levels: EX and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• EX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CR-V formula with the turbocharged engine, standard Honda Sensing safety tech, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is the trim to choose if you want the lowest starting point and do not need the extra convenience features.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim because it adds the larger 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a power rear liftgate, front and rear parking sensors, and a more upscale cabin with leather-wrapped touchpoints. If you want the most complete non-hybrid CR-V experience, this is the one to target.

Honda Sensing is standard on both trims, so you do not need to move up for the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,081 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,817, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $28,817 sits slightly below last year's $29,738.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is still adjusting from the model’s redesign. If prices stabilize or firm up, owners who bought near the current average could be in a better position than buyers who paid closer to the high end of the range.

The CR-V’s broad appeal should help support demand over time, especially because shoppers continue to value its space, comfort, and practicality. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2023 Honda CR-V has not yet been fully re-tested by NHTSA or IIHS in the material provided, so there is no crash-test lead to cite here.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist.

The expert review notes that lane-centering assist can feel uncertain in some highway transition situations, and it can add some artificiality to the steering feel. Even so, the CR-V’s safety equipment is broad and well integrated for the class.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 redesign brings updated infotainment and safety features, plus a stronger emphasis on electrification.

The bottom line: The 2023 makes sense if you want the redesigned CR-V with improved tech, strong practicality, and a market that still offers decent deal availability. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023 is the better pick if you want the newer cabin and feature set.
