Why it stands out
The redesigned 2023 Honda Accord builds on a formula that already worked well, and Honda’s changes make it feel like an even stronger version of a traditional four-door family car. It stands out for being fun to drive, while also offering a spacious interior and great safety ratings. For buyers who want a sedan that balances everyday usefulness with a more engaging driving experience, that combination is a major part of its appeal.
At the same time, the 2023 Accord is not trying to be everything to everyone. All-wheel drive is not available, and it does not offer a third-row seat or a big cargo area you can pack to the roof. The car also has several minor comfort issues, and its value for the money is questionable. Even so, for shoppers who do not need those extra capabilities, the 2023 Honda Accord remains an excellent example of the family sedan.

Is the 2023 Honda Accord a good car?
It’s a strong fit if you want a traditional four-door family sedan that feels more engaging than most, though you should weigh its compromises against what you need. The user rating is 3.5/5, and the expert rating is 6.67/10.
The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
The Accord’s appeal centers on a spacious interior, fun-to-drive character, and great safety ratings. At the same time, it does not offer all-wheel drive, a third-row seat, or a big cargo area you can pack to the roof, so it works best if you value everyday usefulness and driving enjoyment over extra utility.
The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available and there are several minor comfort issues. Its value for the money is also questionable, so the market makes more sense if you prioritize the Accord’s balance of space, safety, and driving feel over bargain pricing.
Only 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you may need to shop carefully to find the best value.
Is the 2023 Honda Accord reliable?
The 2023 Accord is presented as a robust, well-sorted family sedan with a suspension that filters out harshness and a powertrain that is adequate for daily use. The expert evaluation also notes that the car feels refined in urban and suburban driving, with excellent outward visibility and easy parking.
The performance write-up describes the structure as robust and says the suspension successfully suppresses shimmy, shudder, and harshness from the cabin. It also notes that the powertrain is perfectly adequate, which supports the idea that the car should be straightforward to live with over time.
Honda also includes two years or 24,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a higher-priced sedan with some comfort and value compromises can be harder to justify if you plan to keep it for many years.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Accord?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is not the same as a clean mechanical record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on ride quality, tire condition, brake feel, and any signs of interior wear or comfort-related annoyances. Since this model’s value proposition is mixed, condition matters a lot more than it would on a cheaper sedan.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LX and step-up EX are the gas-only versions, while the Accord Sport trim and above use hybrid power. The EX adds a more upscale feel with cloth seats, contrast stitching, metal mesh dashboard trim, digital instrumentation, and an eight-speaker audio system, but the base setup is still fairly basic.
- Powertrain: The gas model uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. It is adequate rather than quick, and the CVT can drone under hard acceleration.
- Safety package: Every 2023 Accord has Honda Sensing, which includes adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, a reversing camera with three views, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic sign recognition, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on EX through an affordable option package.
- Infotainment: The car comes with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It includes Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, text-messaging support, HondaLink connected services, Wi-Fi access, an SOS emergency call button, and two USB-C ports.
- Fuel efficiency: The gas model is rated at 32 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2023 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2023 Honda Accord is offered in 2 trim levels: LX and EX.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the entry point if you want the gas-only Accord with the standard turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, the 7-inch touchscreen, and Honda Sensing. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model, but it stays fairly basic.
- EX: This is the better-value choice if you want a more complete everyday package. It adds a nicer cabin presentation, an eight-speaker audio system, and the option package for blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. If you want the most balanced version of the gas Accord, this is the one to target.
Every 2023 Accord comes standard with Honda Sensing, and the EX can be equipped with the blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alert package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Accord?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,391 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.86% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $23,575.16, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $24,358 sits slightly below last year's $25,077.
That price movement suggests the Accord has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect some depreciation pressure rather than a strong rebound in value.
Because the current average is already below last year’s level, resale strength looks decent but not exceptional. If you buy one now, your best protection against future loss is choosing a well-kept example with desirable equipment and strong condition.
Is the 2023 Honda Accord safe?
It earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every 2023 Accord has Honda Sensing, a collection of advanced driving assistance systems that includes adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, a reversing camera with three views, automatic high-beam headlights, traffic sign recognition, and a driver monitoring system.
Honda also offers an affordable option package on EX trim that adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and that package is worth seeking out if you want broader everyday protection. The system is generally described as accurate, refined, and sophisticated, though lane-centering can waver a bit near freeway off-ramps.
Should I buy a 2023 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.86% compared with last year.
- It gives you the redesigned 11th-generation Accord with a strong safety focus, a spacious cabin, and a fun-to-drive character.
The bottom line: The 2023 Accord makes the most sense if you want the redesigned model year and value its safety, space, and driving feel more than outright bargain pricing. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it closely with nearby years and shop for the cleanest, best-priced example rather than paying extra for a marginally nicer trim.
