How much does the 2023 BMW 7 Series cost?

Prices have softened 14.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 733 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series a good car?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is a strong fit if you want a flagship sedan that prioritizes comfort and driving enjoyment, though its tech and styling may not suit everyone. It earns a user rating of 1/5 and an expert rating of 6.7/10.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

The overview and expert review both point to the same core appeal: you get a comfortable cabin, a great ride quality, and great handling in one large luxury sedan. That combination gives you broader appeal than many rivals that lean too far toward comfort or sportiness.

The trade-offs are clear. The technology interface is frustrating, and the styling is polarizing, so you should expect some friction if you value intuitive controls or universally appealing design. The expert review also notes that some of the car’s cool-looking features come with significant compromises.

If you want a luxury sedan that feels refined on the road and still rewards you behind the wheel, this is a compelling option. If you want the easiest infotainment experience or the safest styling choice, you may want to look elsewhere. 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series reliable?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is built around a comfort-first luxury formula, but its long-term ownership picture still depends heavily on how well the car was maintained and equipped. The expert review describes the 7 Series as a refined flagship with strong performance and a smooth, confidence-inspiring driving character.

The performance notes point to a powertrain lineup that includes a turbocharged six-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid system and an available twin-turbo V8, both paired with an eight-speed automatic. The review also says the car glides away smoothly, with braking that is easy to modulate and confidence-inspiring when you need it.

On the cost side, the base six-cylinder model is described as the one most drivers will be happy with, and it is estimated to return 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving. That makes the lower-output version the more sensible choice if you want to reduce ownership strain.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a complex flagship sedan can become expensive if prior maintenance was skipped or if you choose a heavily optioned example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 7 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on electronics, cabin controls, and any signs of uneven wear on a luxury sedan that may have seen heavy use. Pay close attention to how the car’s features operate in person, since this model’s complexity can make condition and functionality especially important.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard M Sport theme has some chrome grille accents, while the M Sport Professional theme blacks out the chrome for a more sinister and aggressive look. The rear seats can be upgraded with the optional Rear Executive Lounge Seating package, which adds a reclining passenger-side seat and a theater screen.
• Powertrain: The base 740i uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, while the 760i xDrive upgrades to a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. The six-cylinder is the more efficient choice, and the V8 is the quicker, more powerful option.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, a traffic-sign reader, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and safe exit warnings. The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds a hands-free automated driving system for highways.
• Infotainment: The car uses iDrive 8 with touchscreen, central dial, and voice control. The standard audio system is an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System.
• Fuel efficiency: The base six-cylinder is estimated to return 31 mpg in combined city and highway driving, while the V8 is estimated to return 26 mpg.

Which 2023 BMW 7 Series trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 740i and 760i xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 740i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 7 Series experience without paying for the V8. It gives you the comfort, ride quality, and luxury focus that define the car, while also being the more efficient option.
• 760i xDrive: Choose this if you want the stronger performance and quicker acceleration from the V8. It suits you best if power matters more than efficiency or purchase price.

The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds a hands-free automated driving system for highways, so that’s worth considering if you want the most advanced safety setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 7 Series?

This looks like a selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 733 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,536, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $60,536 sits slightly below last year's $70,978.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped.

Because this is a high-end sedan with a complex feature set, well-kept examples should hold up better than neglected ones. If you buy carefully now, you may be in a better position later when it comes time to sell.

Is the 2023 BMW 7 Series safe?

The 2023 BMW 7 Series has not been crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS yet.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, a traffic-sign reader, adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and safe exit warnings. The optional Driving Assistance Professional package adds a hands-free automated driving system for highways.

The expert review says the adaptive cruise control is smooth, and the highway driving assistant can automate braking, acceleration, and steering at speeds up to 85 mph. That makes it one of the better semi-automated systems available for reducing fatigue on long trips.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.71% compared with last year.
• Redesigned for 2023, it blends comfort, luxury, and performance with polarizing styling.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $66,439, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $60,536 average.
• It adds the plug-in hybrid 750e and a lightly updated infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and the redesigned 2023 experience, this year makes sense. If you’re willing to pay more for the 2024’s added plug-in hybrid option and updated tech, that’s the better path for buyers who want the newest version.
