How much does the 2023 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 7.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,885 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2023 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW 3 Series earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

The 2023 refresh gives you sportier styling, an updated driver-focused cabin, and modern tech, while keeping the sports-sedan identity intact. It also stands out as an everyday luxury sedan thanks to its great ride quality and quiet cabin.

The main trade-offs are that a manual transmission is not available and some interior materials feel cheap. Those drawbacks matter most if you want a more tactile driving experience or a more upscale cabin finish.

With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market flexibility to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

Is the 2023 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 3 Series keeps the formula that has made the nameplate appealing: it blends everyday usability with an engaging driving character. The powertrains are carried over, and the car’s quiet, comfortable road manners support the sense that it’s built to be lived with every day.

BMW’s performance content also points to a well-rounded setup, with the 330i delivering strong output and the lineup pairing its engines with an eight-speed automatic. The tech and safety systems are integrated into a modern package, which helps the car feel current rather than dated.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium car with advanced tech and optional equipment can be more expensive to keep in top shape if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW 3 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on cabin condition, electronics, and any signs of uneven wear. Pay close attention to whether the car has the equipment you want, since several safety and convenience features are bundled rather than standard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 330i, 330e, and M340i each bring different styling and equipment levels, and the M Sport package adds exterior and cabin upgrades such as an M leather steering wheel and Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite trim. The base setup is more restrained, so check whether the features you want are included on the specific car you’re considering.
• Powertrain: The 330i uses a twin-turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the 330e adds electric assist, and the M340i steps up to a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six. The lineup uses an eight-speed automatic, with rear-wheel drive standard and xDrive available.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a rear view camera, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, BMW Assist eCall, Active Guard, and the Active Protection System. The Driving Assistance Package adds active blind spot detection, lane-departure warning, park-distance control, and pedestrian and frontal collision warnings, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Extended Traffic Jam Assistance and Active Driving Assistant Pro.
• Infotainment: You get BMW iDrive 8 with the BMW Curved Display, which combines a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. Wireless device charging is available, and over-the-air updates are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 330i is rated at 25 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, while the 330e can return 75 MPGe combined in electric mode and up to 22 miles of electric-only range. The M340i is rated at 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway with xDrive models gaining an mpg on the highway.

Which 2023 BMW 3 Series trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW 3 Series is offered in 3 trim levels: 330i, 330e, and M340i.

Here's the short version:

• 330i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 3 Series experience with strong power, good efficiency, and the refreshed cabin and tech. It gives you the everyday balance of comfort, style, and performance without pushing into the higher-priced trims.
• 330e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the added electric-only driving capability. It suits you best if short trips and efficiency matter more than outright performance.
• M340i: This is the pick if you want the strongest performance and the most upscale, performance-oriented version of the lineup. It’s the right choice if you’re willing to pay more for the quickest and most powerful 3 Series here.

The Driving Assistance Package and Driving Assistance Professional Package add important safety features, so check whether the car you’re considering includes them.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,885 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,822, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $33,822 sits slightly below last year's $36,584.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing trend means your future resale value will depend heavily on how well you preserve condition and mileage.

Because the model still has strong appeal as a luxury sports sedan, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW 3 Series safe?

The 2023 BMW 3 Series earns a five-star crash safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes a rear view camera, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, BMW Assist eCall, Active Guard with frontal collision warning and automatic city collision mitigation and braking, and the Active Protection System with automatic seat belt pretensioners, automatic window and moonroof closing, post-crash braking, and fatigue/focus alert.

If you want more driver assistance, the Driving Assistance Package adds active blind spot detection, lane-departure warning, park-distance control, and pedestrian and frontal collision warnings. The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Extended Traffic Jam Assistance and Active Driving Assistant Pro, including lane-keep assist, lane-change assist, emergency stop assistant, and evasion aid.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• BMW’s 2023 refresh brings sportier styling, a redesigned cockpit, and major technology updates.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,185, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $33,822 average.
• It offers familiar driving enjoyment with multiple powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the newer cabin, updated tech, and stronger market availability, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
