How much does the 2022 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 9.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,171 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its powerful engine, advanced features, and reliability, and many also like its solid feel and smooth ride. The truck’s broad update, multiple cab and bed lengths, and strong technology appeal make it especially relevant if you want a modern full-size pickup with flexibility.

The trade-offs are clear: it no longer offers a V8 engine, its design may be polarizing, and it is much more expensive than the 2021 model. If you want a newly redesigned truck with a loyal following and a strong feature set, this one fits that brief well.

Good and great deals account for 38.0% of listings, so there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, durability, and a truck that feels dependable over time, with many owners describing it as solid and trouble-free. The expert review also emphasizes Toyota’s long-standing reputation for durability and value, and notes that loyal owners often keep these trucks for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Toyota’s updated powertrain and chassis are designed to deliver smooth, consistent performance, which supports confidence in everyday use and long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the truck’s basic toughness and more about paying too much for one that hasn’t been maintained well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tundra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and electronics, since this generation brought major mechanical and tech changes. Focus on condition, equipment, and whether the truck has the features you want, because trim and package content vary a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR starts with an 8-inch touchscreen, while SR5 can add a 14-inch screen and Limited and above get the larger display standard. Higher trims also bring more premium materials and amenities, so base-trim trucks are the ones most likely to feel sparse by comparison.
• Powertrain: The standard i-Force twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 makes 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while the i-Force Max hybrid raises output to 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. Toyota estimates the gas engine can return 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway in RWD form, or 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway with 4WD.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitor is not available on SR and is standard on all other trim levels except SR.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all models. The standard screen is 8 inches on SR and SR5, while Limited and above get a 14-inch touchscreen standard; Toyota Connected services and related connected features are also included with trial periods.
• Fuel efficiency: Toyota estimates the gas engine returns 18 mpg city/23 mpg highway/20 mpg combined in RWD form and 17 mpg city/22 mpg highway/19 mpg combined with 4WD.

Which 2022 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Tundra. You still get standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 and wireless smartphone integration, but the cabin and screen setup are the most basic here.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the core of the lineup and can add the 14-inch touchscreen. It gives you a stronger mix of equipment and value than SR without jumping too far upmarket.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot if you want the most obvious step up in tech and comfort. The 14-inch touchscreen is standard here, and the trim also unlocks more premium audio and convenience features.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale truck with more available luxury-oriented equipment. It builds on the Limited’s tech foundation and moves the Tundra further into premium territory.
• 1794: This is the luxury-focused choice, and it suits you if cabin presentation matters as much as capability. It sits near the top of the range and is aimed at buyers who want the most upscale feel.
• TRD Pro: This is the flagship if you want the most off-road-focused factory setup. It stands apart with standard 4WD and the most aggressive hardware in the lineup.

Blind-spot monitor is not available on SR and is standard on all other trim levels except SR.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,171 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,796, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $37,796 sits slightly below last year's $41,636.

That decline suggests the market has cooled from a year ago, which can work in your favor if you’re buying now. For a future seller, it means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment than it would be in a hotter market.

The good news is that this truck still has strong owner satisfaction and a loyal following, which helps support demand. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2022 Toyota Tundra has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard on every trim and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and road sign assist. The Star Safety System is also standard, along with eight airbags, LATCH anchors on the outboard second-row seats, tire-pressure monitoring, hill-start control, and parking support brake with rear cross-traffic alert.

Blind-spot monitor is not available on SR and is standard on all other trim levels except SR. That trim gap is worth noting if you want the broadest safety feature set.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a modern powertrain, updated tech, and a broad trim lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,741, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $37,796 average.
• It leans on proven fundamentals and a long-running design.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $41,560, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $37,796 average.
• It adds a fresh SX appearance package to the SR5 trim.

The bottom line: If you want the newest design and the strongest mix of tech and capability, the 2022 is the better target. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 can save a little money, while the 2023 makes sense only if you want to pay more for a slightly newer model-year position.
