How much does the 2022 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices have softened 2.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,109 listings available, which gives you a healthy pool to compare trims, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.4/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise its practicality, comfort, and performance, along with its spacious interior and advanced technology features. The review summary also points to strong handling in different weather conditions and a generally dependable, trouble-free ownership experience over the long term.

The trade-offs are that the interior can feel basic and cramped to some shoppers, and the price can seem high. That lines up with the RAV4’s role as a practical compact SUV with broad appeal rather than a bargain pick or a luxury-leaning choice.

With 34.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, especially for shoppers who want a vehicle they can count on. The expert review also emphasizes long-term dependability and durability, which reinforces the RAV4’s reputation as a sensible used buy.

Toyota’s ownership support includes a complimentary first-year Safety Connect subscription, and that adds a little extra peace of mind for everyday use.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying too much for a well-liked model, so condition and maintenance history matter more than chasing the lowest sticker.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota RAV4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate, even if it looks clean on the lot. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, because the RAV4’s broad appeal can mean some listings have been used hard or priced aggressively.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The gasoline model ranges from LE to TRD Off-Road, and the base trim is the most stripped-down version of the lineup. Higher grades add more equipment, while the upper trims also bring blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking.
• Powertrain: The gasoline model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available across the lineup.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane-tracing assist, and road sign assist.
• Infotainment: Base models get a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and connected-services trials. XLE models and above upgrade to a 9-inch screen, while Limited models add available premium audio and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel-drive gasoline models are rated at 27-28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway, while all-wheel-drive versions are slightly lower at 25-27 mpg city and 32-34 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, Adventure, and TRD Off-Road.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and the core RAV4 formula without extra frills.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday convenience while staying well below the upper trims.
• XLE Premium: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most comfort and tech-oriented gas model before the specialty trims.
• Adventure: This suits you if you want the more rugged look and AWD-only setup.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the most specialized choice if you want the most trail-focused gas trim in the lineup.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, and higher grades add blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota RAV4?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep distress pricing.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,109 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,209, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $27,196 sits slightly below last year's $27,818.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests future sellers may not see rapid appreciation. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be better positioned when it’s time to sell.

The RAV4’s broad appeal and steady demand help support resale value, especially because shoppers continue to look for practical, well-equipped compact SUVs.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane-tracing assist, and road sign assist. Higher grades add blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking, and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking is available on upper trims.

The main caveat is that the strongest driver-assistance content is not universal across every trim, so you should confirm the exact equipment on the listing you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It balances roomy practicality, strong safety, and broad trim choice.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,617, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,196 average.
• It offers a broad trim range and a practical, everyday character.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,830, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,196 average.
• It updates the infotainment system for a more current cabin feel.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-rounded RAV4 with strong safety and broad market availability. If price is your top priority, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want a newer-feeling cabin, the 2023 is worth the extra money.
