Is the 2022 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its features, strong AWD performance, and impressive fuel economy, while noting that it is less powerful than expected for a sporty drive. That makes it a good fit if you want a midsize sedan that emphasizes comfort, traction, and everyday usability over excitement. With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a dependable-feeling package with strong AWD performance and a generally trouble-free ownership experience. The combination of standard all-wheel drive and strong fuel economy also supports the sense that this is a car you can count on for daily use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a well-kept example, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru Legacy?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and confirm there are no hidden accident or title issues. Put inspection priority on overall condition, especially signs of wear that could affect comfort, electronics, or drivability. Focus on how the car presents in person, because a clean-looking listing is only part of the story.

What is the 2022 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $20,636 sits slightly below last year's $22,721.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average because shoppers still respond to the Legacy’s practical strengths.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,570, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,636 average.
• It offers standard AWD and practical everyday value.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the stronger current-market mix of satisfaction, inventory, and pricing momentum. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with the features you want.
