Used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder for Sale near Illinois

How much does the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder cost?

Prices have softened 13.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,204 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.8/5 from owners and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable seating, spacious interior, smooth performance, and strong value for the price. The Pathfinder’s practical three-row layout and family-friendly packaging also come through clearly in the feedback.

On the downside, the expert review points to poor fuel economy and unimpressive technology. The overview frames it as a practical three-row SUV with more character than the usual suburban shuttle, so it fits you best if you want space and comfort first, with style as a bonus.

With 38.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with comfortable seating, a spacious cabin, and smooth performance reinforcing the sense that it’s built for everyday use. The expert review also describes the Pathfinder as a practical family hauler with thoughtful features and a stable ride, which supports confidence in routine ownership.

Nissan’s new nine-speed automatic is described as smooth through the gears, and the model’s platform and suspension were improved to deliver a stable ride. Nissan also includes a capless fuel filler, which is a small but useful convenience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history match its family-hauler reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on interior wear, seat condition, and how the transmission behaves on a test drive. Since owners mention the third row and transmission as mixed points, those are worth extra attention if you plan to use the SUV as a daily family vehicle.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Pathfinder comes in four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. Base S models are the most stripped-down, while SV and higher add a panoramic moonroof and roof rack, and Platinum brings the most upscale cabin treatment, including semi-aniline leather-appointed seats and standard second-row captain’s chairs.
• Powertrain: The 3.5-liter V6 makes 284 horsepower and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. You can choose front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the model is tuned for stable everyday driving rather than hybrid efficiency.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every Pathfinder. It includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. Upper trims add a surround-view monitor.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, voice recognition, and a 7-inch digital driver-information display. Upper trims get a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and connected navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD model is rated at 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. AWD versions keep the same city figure and rise to 27 mpg highway in most trims, while the AWD Platinum is rated at 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Pathfinder experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the model’s space, standard safety tech, and basic infotainment without paying for extras you may not use.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful convenience features while staying below the higher-end luxury pricing. If you want a more complete family SUV without jumping too far up the ladder, this is the trim to focus on.
• SL: This trim is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale cabin and stronger tech content. It adds semi-aniline leather-appointed seating and can be equipped with the Bose audio system, making it a good fit if comfort and features matter more than price.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious Pathfinder, with the richest interior treatment, standard second-row captain’s chairs, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, and a head-up display. Choose it if you want the most premium version and are willing to pay for it.

Safety Shield 360 is standard across the lineup, while upper trims add a surround-view monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,204 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,157, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $24,157 sits slightly below last year's $28,038.

That drop suggests the Pathfinder has moved into a more buyer-friendly pricing zone, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect resale values to reflect a softer market rather than a strong appreciation story.

Even so, the Pathfinder’s broad appeal as a three-row SUV helps support demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder has not been crash-tested by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every Pathfinder, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, rear automatic braking, driver alertness monitor, rear door alert, and forward-collision warning. A rearview camera is standard, and upper trims add a surround-view monitor.

Ten airbags are standard, while the top Platinum trim gets 11. That gives you a strong standard safety package, especially if you move beyond the base trim.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings back much of the Pathfinder’s rugged character and capability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,197, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $24,157 average.
• It adds the Rock Creek edition for a tougher look and feel.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the Rock Creek edition and a newer model year, the 2023 is the better secondary path.
