How much does the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander cost?

Is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth drive, advanced features, and stylish look. The Outlander also stands out for its comfortable ride and strong value proposition, which fit well with its mainstream-SUV mission. On the downside, the third row is cramped and cargo space is limited when all seats are in use, while the expert review also points to sluggish performance and voice recognition that struggles at speed.

If you want a modern-feeling family SUV with strong equipment for the money, the Outlander makes a compelling case. The market also shows 37.2% good or great deals, so there are still attractive listings to be found.

Is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the smooth drive and advanced features in a way that suggests confidence over time. The expert review also emphasizes the Outlander’s great warranty and generous roadside assistance, which help reduce ownership anxiety. Mitsubishi’s long powertrain coverage adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers.

For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is less about durability and more about whether the Outlander’s driving manners and packaging quirks fit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you plan to use the third row regularly. Focus on cabin condition, seat wear, and whether the vehicle’s features and driving behavior match what you expect from a family SUV. A test drive matters here because the Outlander’s ride, steering, and acceleration are part of the ownership experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Outlander is sold in ES, SE, SE Launch Edition, SEL, and SEL Launch Edition trims, and the higher trims add a more upscale cabin with premium semi-aniline leather, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, a premium sound system, rear-window sunshades, and a panoramic glass sunroof. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and available S-AWC all-wheel drive. The setup is tuned more for everyday commuting than quick acceleration, and the expert review notes that it can feel sluggish when you need extra passing power.
• Safety package: Mi-Pilot Assist is the standout driver-assistance system, and it works with commendable refinement, smoothness, and accuracy. The Outlander also includes forward collision avoidance, safe reversing, lane-keeping assistance, and blind-spot warning, though the steering-assistance systems can feel intrusive when Mi-Pilot Assist is not engaged.
• Infotainment: The available 9-inch touchscreen includes stereo volume and tuning knobs, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and a free two-year subscription to Mitsubishi Connect Safeguard and Remote services. Wireless smartphone charging is standard with the 9-inch Smartphone-link system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review records 24.9 mpg on its testing route, and it notes an official fuel-economy rating of 26 mpg for AWD models.

Which 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is offered in 5 trim levels: ES, SE, SE Launch Edition, SEL, and SEL Launch Edition.

Here's the short version:

• ES: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Outlander, but you should expect the fewest features and the least upscale feel.
• SE: This is the trim most buyers should start with because it should strike the best balance between equipment and value without pushing you into the highest-priced versions.
• SE Launch Edition: Choose this if you want a better-equipped SE variant and are shopping for a limited-edition version with more appeal than the standard midlevel trim.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim if you want the richer cabin presentation and the strongest mix of comfort and technology features without going all the way to the top special edition.
• SEL Launch Edition: Pick this if you want the most upscale version described here, including the premium interior touches and available Touring Package equipment that make the Outlander feel more premium.

The safety package centers on Mi-Pilot Assist, along with forward collision avoidance, safe reversing, lane-keeping assistance, and blind-spot warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,495, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander's resale value?

The current average of $19,495 sits slightly below last year's $22,100.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means there may be less room for appreciation unless demand strengthens. Still, a well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history should remain easier to move than a neglected one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander safe?

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander does not have crash-test ratings cited in the available review text.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mi-Pilot Assist is the key driver-assistance suite, and it works with commendable refinement, smoothness, and accuracy as a hands-on Level 2 system. The Outlander also includes forward collision avoidance, safe reversing, lane-keeping assistance, and blind-spot warning. One caveat is that the steering-assistance and lane-departure systems can feel intrusive when Mi-Pilot Assist is not active, and you have to use the touchscreen menu to turn them off.

Should I buy a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out as a redesigned SUV with impressive technology, a comfortable ride, and a great warranty.

The bottom line: If you want the more modern-feeling Outlander with strong tech and a compelling value story, the 2022 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for the best-equipped clean-history example you can find, because the market still offers enough inventory to compare before you commit.
