CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS
overall

Summary
With 847 currently listed for sale and an average price of $42,037.00, 34.6% of 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 4.75 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
90.2% of 2022 EQS models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
Mercedes-Benz positions the 2022 EQS as the electric equivalent of its flagship S-Class sedan, and that alone makes it distinctive. It is also the first model to set the tone for Mercedes’ EQ-badged electric lineup, which gives it added importance beyond its own role as a luxury sedan. In practice, the EQS stands out with sleek, aerodynamic styling and an elaborate infotainment system, creating a strong first impression that feels more luxurious than other similarly priced electric sedans.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS also brings the kind of strengths buyers expect from a top-tier electric luxury car. Its highlights include impressive electric range, great handling, and impressive technology. At launch, the lineup includes the base, single-motor EQS 450+ and the dual-motor EQS 580 4MATIC, both offered in Premium, Exclusive, and Pinnacle trim levels. The main drawbacks are that the voice assistant is slow to respond and some buttons are poorly positioned, so the cabin’s sophistication is not entirely matched by its day-to-day usability.

Reviewed a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS on Jun 26, 2023
Ive tested every single electric luxury sedan and this is by far the most comfortable. Not only that but its driver assist technology is incredibly good. I find the range to be very good and close to the best. Overall it feels very classic luxury with technology being mixed in well. Im a tall person and out of the electric luxury sedans I tested I can confidently say this is one of the two (Lucid Air touring being the other) that I fit in very easily. Its acceleration is quite fast and I find a used one a great proposition for money. However, a new one is quite expensive and while I still think its good value for the money, in this case used might be the way to go. Saved me about 31k. I find the user interface of the car incredibly good though I wish the AC had hard button controls. Otherwise its all laid out very easily. Also, for a sedan it has an incredible amount of trunk space.

See more price trendsHow much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $41,900 |
| Year-Round Low | $41,906.42 |
| Year-Round High | $47,402.74 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $47,431 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.66% |
Prices have softened 11.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 853 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare. If you find a listing below $41,906.42, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.
Mercedes positions it as the electric equivalent of its flagship S-Class sedan, and the design and cabin presentation back that up with sleek aerodynamics and an elaborate infotainment setup. It also brings impressive electric range, great handling, and strong technology, which makes it especially appealing if you want a luxury EV that feels substantial rather than minimalist.
The main trade-offs are that the voice assistant is slow to respond and some buttons are poorly positioned. That means you get a highly polished luxury EV, but not one that is perfectly intuitive in daily use.
With 34.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Mercedes gives the EQS a four-year, 50,000-mile new vehicle warranty and a 10-year, 155,000-mile battery warranty, which supports confidence in long-term ownership. The car is also built around a comfort-first electric-luxury formula, with strong ride quality and quiet operation that should help it age well if it’s maintained properly.
The performance side also points to a well-sorted package: the EQS was designed for comfort, but it still delivers impressive handling and a balanced driving experience. Mercedes also includes a generous battery warranty, which is especially important on a used EV.
If you’re buying used, the biggest long-term risk is making sure the car’s electronics, charging behavior, and luxury features are all working as intended.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, and focus on whether the cabin tech, charging system, and driver-assistance features all work correctly. On a luxury EV like this, condition matters not just for cosmetics but also for how well the electronics and comfort features have held up.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base EQS 450+ Premium gives you the core luxury-EV experience, but you still have to pay extra for the Hyperscreen display. Mercedes also requires an upgrade to Exclusive for massaging seats, four-zone climate control, and a head-up display.
- Powertrain: The EQS 450+ uses a single motor with 329 horsepower and 419 pound-feet of torque, while the EQS 580 adds dual motors, all-wheel drive, 516 hp, and 631 lb-ft. The 450+ is the efficiency play, while the 580 is the quicker, more powerful choice.
- Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control with steering assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, parking assist, and a surround-view camera system. Pre-Safe predictive occupant protection is also included.
- Infotainment: The Hyperscreen combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch main touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch front-passenger touchscreen. Without it, the base EQS 450+ still gets a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system supports over-the-air updates through Mercedes’ connected software approach.
- Fuel efficiency: The EQS 450+ is rated at 350 miles of range, while the EQS 580 is rated at 340 miles. Mercedes says the car can charge from 10% to 80% in about 11 hours on Level 2 AC and in 30 minutes on DC fast charging.
Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS trim should I buy?
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Exclusive, and Pinnacle.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: Premium gives you the entry point to the EQS lineup, but it leaves some of the most desirable luxury features on the options list, including the Hyperscreen display.
- Sweet-spot trim: Exclusive is the best value if you want the features that make the EQS feel properly flagship-grade, because it adds massaging seats, four-zone climate control, and a head-up display.
- Premium/top trim: Pinnacle is the choice if you want the most rear-seat convenience features and the most fully equipped version of the cabin.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you’re mainly choosing between how much luxury and convenience you want rather than whether you get the core driver-assistance tech.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 853 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.66% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $41,906.42, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS's resale value?
The current average of $41,900 sits slightly below last year's $47,431.
That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right entry point. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside left than someone who bought when prices were higher.
The EQS also has a strong luxury identity and a high-end feature set, which can help it stay appealing to used shoppers looking for a premium EV. That said, resale will still depend heavily on condition, equipment, and how well the battery and electronics hold up over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS safe?

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.66% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 EQS launches Mercedes’ flagship electric sedan with impressive range, strong handling, and standout technology.
The bottom line: If you want the first-year EQS experience with flagship luxury, strong range, and a polished cabin, the 2022 is the right place to start. If you’re mainly chasing the lowest possible price, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of equipment, condition, and asking price.
