How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,170 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The 2022 E-Class leans on its broad body-style range, refined luxury character, and established strengths after a substantial 2021 refresh. It is especially appealing if you want a distinctive open-air option, since the Cabriolet is called out as a standout in a class of one, while the lineup overall continues to emphasize comfort and premium presentation over major year-to-year change.

35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 E-Class is presented as a polished, well-rounded luxury car that continues to build on the prior refresh rather than introducing major new complexity. Its expert evaluation emphasizes strong luxury appeal, broad usability, and a high level of technology, while the performance notes point to a robust turbocharged six-cylinder setup with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology that improves both power output and efficiency.

The cost-effectiveness notes also suggest that a more restrained configuration can deliver much of the E-Class experience without the highest price tag, which can help reduce ownership strain over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-spec versions can be expensive to maintain and repair if they were heavily optioned or driven hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, since a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on electronics, convertible-top operation if applicable, and evidence of wear on premium interior and exterior trim. If you are shopping a higher-spec example, make sure the equipment works as intended and that the car’s condition matches its asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles, and the E350, E450, and AMG E53 variants each bring different levels of performance and luxury. Base versions are described as more understated, while higher-spec AMG models add more dramatic styling and a richer cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: Sedans come with a turbocharged four-cylinder as the E350, while E450 versions use a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. AMG E53 models use a more powerful version of that six-cylinder setup, and the performance notes emphasize strong response and efficiency support from the 48-volt system.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses Mercedes-Benz User Experience with two 12.3-inch screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, WiFi service, and an augmented reality navigation overlay. A head-up display is also available, and the system can be controlled by touchscreen, center-console controls, steering-wheel touch controls, and voice input.
• Fuel efficiency: EQ Boost is described as improving both power output and efficiency, and the cost-effectiveness notes say a basic E450 can still deliver robust acceleration while avoiding the highest ownership cost.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 3 trim levels: E350, E450, AMG E53.

Here's the short version:

• E350: This is the entry point if you want the E-Class experience with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the most accessible pricing. It suits you best if you care more about luxury, body-style choice, and everyday comfort than maximum performance.
• E450: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology, giving you stronger performance without jumping all the way to AMG pricing. If you want the most balanced mix of refinement, power, and cost, this is the one to target.
• AMG E53: Choose this if you want the most performance-focused version in the lineup, with the more powerful six-cylinder setup, AMG tuning, and a more dramatic driving character. It is the right pick if you value speed and sportier feel over value.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that most advanced driver-assistance features are bundled into the extra-cost Driver Assistance Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,170 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,962, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $39,049 sits slightly below last year's $42,251.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than broad market momentum alone.

Because the year’s pricing has softened, a well-kept example bought at the right price may hold up better than one purchased near the top of the range. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It has standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The E-Class Cabriolet also adds pop-up rollbars for rollover protection, and the AMG E53 includes Active Parking Assist plus a surround-view camera system.

Most other safety features are bundled into the extra-cost Driver Assistance Package, which adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus. Our test car was equipped with this package, and the expert evaluation highlights it as a particularly strong collection of driver aids.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 lineup adds standard automatic high-beam headlights and rear USB charging ports for coupe and convertible models.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,644, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $39,049 average.
• It offers a broad range of personalities with four body styles, four engines, and a mid-cycle update.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing trend, strong safety, and the latest standard equipment changes, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 can still give you much of the same core E-Class versatility and luxury character for less money.
