Used 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata for Sale near Ohio

How much does the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata cost?

Prices are up 2.76% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 316 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata earns a 4.8/5 from owners and a 6.8/10 from our experts. The expert rating reflects a car that is especially strong in driving enjoyment, with an expert score of 10/10 for Performance.

The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its fun driving experience, excellent handling, and stylish design. The review summary also points to improved horsepower and a car that feels rewarding to drive, which lines up with the Miata’s playful, street-legal go-kart character.

The trade-offs are familiar: the cabin is cramped, it can be noisy, and cargo space is limited. That makes it best for you if you want a focused roadster rather than a practical daily hauler.

With 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still a meaningful share of attractive inventory to shop.

Is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels fun, well-handling, and stylish, while also noting comfort and horsepower improvements over earlier versions. That combination suggests you’re getting a model that owners enjoy living with, not just driving on weekends.

The expert notes also emphasize the Miata’s dependable, confidence-inspiring behavior on the road, especially when driven hard. Mazda’s focus on a simple, lightweight formula supports the sense that this is a car built for long-term enjoyment rather than complexity.

If you’re buying used, the main ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about whether the car has been treated carefully, since condition matters a lot on a focused sports car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace documentation on the specific car you’re considering. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a roadster like this, where top, trim, and interior condition can vary a lot from one example to the next. Focus on wear items, cabin condition, and signs that the car has been used hard or stored poorly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The car comes in Sport, Club, and Grand Touring trims, with the base setup keeping technology and equipment relatively simple. The Club adds wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system with front head restraint speakers, while Grand Touring adds an integrated navigation system and SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link services.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine makes 181 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed manual in most trims, with the automatic limited to the top Grand Touring trim. Mazda also adds Kinematic Posture Control to every model to improve body control and steering response.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking at lower speeds, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a reversing camera. Grand Touring adds traffic sign recognition, but the core driver-assistance set is otherwise consistent.
• Infotainment: You get a 7-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth with text message delivery and reply, E911 automatic emergency notification, HD Radio, and internet radio access. Wireless Apple CarPlay is added on Club, and the system remains Mazda Connect.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy rating is 29 mpg in combined driving, and the car returned 27.5 mpg during a half-day drive.

Which 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Club, and Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the simplest way into the Miata experience, and it suits you if you want the lightest, most straightforward version of Mazda’s roadster without paying for extra convenience features.
• Club: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system, while also pairing well with the car’s enthusiast-focused character.
• Grand Touring: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience, including integrated navigation and SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link services, and if you’re okay with the automatic transmission being reserved for this trim.

Mazda’s safety package is standard across the lineup, so you’re not forced into a higher trim just to get the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop carefully and compare listings before moving quickly.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 316 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.76% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 83.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,731, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata's resale value?

The current average of $27,163 sits slightly above last year's $26,434.

That upward move suggests the market continues to value this model year well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A rising average price can help support resale strength, especially when inventory is not overwhelming and demand remains steady.

For you as a future seller, that means a clean, well-kept example should still attract attention if it’s priced competitively. The car’s strong enthusiast appeal also helps keep it relevant in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata safe?

The 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips it with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking at lower speeds, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a reversing camera. Grand Touring adds traffic sign recognition, but the overall safety menu remains fairly short.

The main caveat is that the car’s safety equipment is limited compared with many mainstream vehicles, and the expert review notes that the feature set is basic. For you, that means the Miata is best viewed as a driver-focused sports car rather than a safety-tech showcase.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.76% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds Kinematic Posture Control across the lineup and makes the RF Club especially appealing with standard Brembo BBS Recaro equipment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,492, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,163 average.
• It keeps the Miata’s engaging, budget-friendly sports-car character.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $28,695, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,163 average.
• It leans even more into the Miata’s focused, top-down driver’s-car appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, driving enjoyment, and current-market availability, the 2022 is the sweet spot. If price matters most, the 2021 is the better bargain; if you want to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2023 is the next step up.
