Used 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata for Sale nearNaples, FL

How much does the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata cost?

Prices are up 3.37% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 317 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 is a strong user rating for the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and the expert rating is 6.83/10. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise the fun driving experience, excellent handling, and stylish design. The review summary also points to improved horsepower and a car that feels rewarding to drive, which lines up with the Miata’s enthusiast-first character.

The trade-offs are familiar for this kind of roadster: the cabin is cramped, it can be noisy, and cargo space is limited. That makes it a better fit if you want a small, engaging car for driving enjoyment rather than everyday practicality.

With 42.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a car that owners enjoy for the long haul, and the expert evaluation also emphasizes its legendary reliability. That combination suggests the Miata has the kind of dependability shoppers often want in a used sports car.

The expert write-up also frames it as a car built around simple, focused engineering rather than complexity, which can be a plus for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how hard a previous owner may have driven it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a sports car can be driven hard even when it looks clean on the surface. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, roof operation if applicable, and signs of abuse or neglect. Pay close attention to cabin condition and any evidence that the car spent a lot of time exposed to the elements.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The car comes in Sport, Club, and Grand Touring trim, with the base model emphasizing the Miata’s lightweight, minimalist character. The higher trims add more equipment and a more upscale feel, while the RF body style brings a retractable fastback roof and a more coupe-like experience.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine makes 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, and the six-speed manual is central to the car’s appeal. Mazda also adds Kinematic Posture Control to every model for sharper cornering behavior.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a reversing camera. Grand Touring adds traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: You get a 7-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth with text message delivery and reply, E911 automatic emergency notification, HD Radio, and internet radio access. Club adds wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system, while Grand Touring adds integrated navigation and SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert write-up says it returned 27.5 mpg during testing, and the official EPA combined rating is 29 mpg.

Which 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Club, and Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the simplest way into the Miata experience, and it suits you if you want the lightest, most straightforward version of the car without extra frills.
• Club: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest enthusiast setup, since it adds more desirable equipment and is the trim most closely tied to the car’s performance-focused personality.
• Grand Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including the automatic transmission availability and the most complete tech and safety content.

Mazda also notes that traffic sign recognition is standard on Grand Touring.

• Inventory: There are 317 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.37% year-over-year.

If you find a listing below $25,822, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata's resale value?

The current average of $27,896 sits slightly above last year's $26,988.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A car that holds demand while staying relatively affordable can be easier to move when it’s time to trade in or list privately.

The Miata’s strong enthusiast appeal also helps support future demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. If you maintain it carefully and keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a better shot at preserving value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata safe?

The 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata has not been crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking at lower speeds, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a reversing camera. Grand Touring adds traffic sign recognition.

The safety setup is basic, and the expert review notes that the car only has two front and two side airbags. That means you should treat safety as a relative weak point compared with more mainstream vehicles, especially if you regularly drive in dense traffic or alongside larger vehicles.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.37% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds Kinematic Posture Control and sharpens the Miata’s already playful handling.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,521, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,896 average.
• It keeps the Miata formula intact with fun handling, a manual transmission, and budget-friendly appeal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,182, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,896 average.
• It leans even more clearly into the lightweight, open-air roadster experience.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest blend of driving enjoyment and market support, the 2022 is the sweet spot. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for a newer alternative, the 2023 is the next step up.
