Used 2022 Kia Forte for Sale nearBaltimore, MD

How much does the 2022 Kia Forte cost?

Prices have softened 8.82% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,193 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated car with an expert score of 7.5/10. The 2022 Forte is aimed at buyers who want a lot of equipment for the money, along with a spacious cabin and updated infotainment and driver-assist tech. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, and the car can be noisy. It also leans more toward affordable daily-driver value than excitement, even though the GT version adds more performance and sophistication.

At 34.7%, the share of good or great deals suggests there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year/60,000-mile standard warranty add to the Forte’s appeal if you’re planning to keep the car for a while. The powertrain is described as underwhelming in most trims, but the GT version is called more powerful and more sophisticated, which helps it feel more substantial overall.

Kia also backs the car with a one-year complimentary trial subscription to Kia Connect Ultimate services on selected models. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the lower-performing trims may feel less satisfying over time if you prioritize refinement and driving confidence.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Forte?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a test drive that lets you judge cabin noise, power delivery, and brake feel, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction. It’s also worth paying close attention to trim-specific equipment so you know whether the car has the infotainment and driver-assist features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The FE, LXS, GT-Line, and GT each bring different equipment levels, and the base trims use unimpressive halogen headlights while the GT gets brighter LED headlights. The GT-Line and GT also add more distinctive styling details, while the GT has the most aggressive look and the most exclusive features.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and a CVT, while the GT uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 201 hp and either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The standard engine is tuned more for efficiency than punch, while the GT is the one for stronger acceleration and more engaging driving.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system across all trims. GT-Line and GT add active blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, and Safe Exit Warning, with additional upgrades available depending on trim.
• Infotainment: FE and LXS get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. GT-Line and GT move to a 10.25-inch touchscreen with SiriusXM, voice recognition, Kia Connect connected services, and remote engine starting capability, but smartphone mirroring becomes wired.
• Fuel efficiency: The FE is rated at 35 mpg combined and up to 41 mpg on the highway, while the LXS and GT-Line are rated at 33 mpg combined. The GT’s turbocharged setup is less efficient, with official ratings of 26 mpg combined with the manual transmission and 30 mpg combined with the DCT.

Which 2022 Kia Forte trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Forte is offered in 4 trim levels: FE, LXS, GT-Line, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• FE: This is the efficiency-first choice, and it’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest entry price and wireless smartphone connectivity. It makes the most sense if your priority is value and you’re comfortable with the simpler equipment set.
• LXS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto setup while adding the equipment you actually need without pushing the price too far. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to start with.
• GT-Line: This trim is for you if you want the sportier look plus more tech, including the larger touchscreen and additional connected features. It adds more visual appeal and convenience, but you give up wireless smartphone mirroring.
• GT: This is the enthusiast pick, with the turbocharged engine, stronger performance, sport-tuned suspension, and the most distinctive styling. It’s the right choice if you want the most fun and the most complete version of the Forte.

GT-Line and GT trims also bring the added safety features tied to blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Forte?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.82% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,122, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Forte's resale value?

The current average of $16,122 sits slightly below last year's $17,681.

That softer pricing suggests the Forte is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly. If you’re planning to sell later, you should expect value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car has been maintained. The GT may hold more appeal to shoppers who want extra performance and features, while lower trims will likely compete more on price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte safe?

The 2022 Forte earns a four-star overall crash protection rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives its crashworthiness and driving assist systems high marks. It earns 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Across all trim levels, standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver monitoring system. GT-Line and GT add active blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking, and Safe Exit Warning, while additional upgrades such as cyclist detection and Highway Driving Assist are available depending on trim.

The main caveat is that NHTSA’s rating is held back by a three-star frontal impact rating for the front passenger and a side-impact concern involving rear passenger injury potential.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Forte or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings sharper styling plus updated infotainment, driver-assist, and collision-avoidance systems.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $17,970, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $16,122 average.
• It adds a broader all-around appeal with comfort and a manual transmission option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the stronger buy because it combines lower pricing with solid inventory and updated features. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2023 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022.
