What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with the history report so you can confirm accident status, title history, and any major claims. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the vehicle’s condition, especially signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership. It also makes sense to focus on how the SUV presents overall, since condition can vary even within a model year with plenty of listings.

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.57% compared with last year.

What is the 2022 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $22,001 sits slightly below last year's $24,601.

That price movement suggests the Cherokee has become more affordable for today’s buyer, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than last year. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside risk later than someone who paid closer to the prior average. Strong condition and clean history should matter even more if you want to protect resale value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,364, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,001 average.
• It offers a smooth ride, strong value, and useful safety features.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the stronger current-market mix of owner satisfaction, deal availability, and cleaner inventory. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the better value-focused alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
