Used 2022 Hyundai Sonata for Sale nearCleveland, OH

How much does the 2022 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Prices have softened 7.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,003 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4.75/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Sonata’s appeal comes through clearly in its strong value, outstanding warranty, and quality-focused packaging. It also gives you a quiet cabin and a surprisingly sporty N Line variant, so you can shop it either as a practical midsize sedan or as a more engaging choice.

The main trade-offs are a polarizing exterior design and the lack of all-wheel drive. Even so, the overall mix of everyday livability and feature content makes it a compelling pick if you want a well-equipped sedan with personality.

35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which is a healthy sign for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sonata’s reliability case is built around its strong value proposition, excellent warranty coverage, and the sense of quality described in the model overview. It also benefits from a quiet cabin and a well-rounded feature set, which usually helps ownership feel less tiring over time.

Its performance tuning is described as competent and calm in normal driving, with a smooth ride and a serene cabin. Hyundai also includes three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance, which can help reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a car with this much feature content can be more expensive to keep in top shape if prior maintenance was skipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Sonata?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment, since the Sonata’s value depends heavily on condition and feature functionality. Focus on signs of wear in the cabin, electronics, and safety systems, especially if you want a trim with more advanced equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE gives you the essentials, while higher trims add more comfort, tech, and appearance upgrades. The Limited and N Line stand out for buyers who want more premium equipment or a sportier look, but the base trim is where you’ll notice the biggest feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is paired with an eight-speed automatic and is described as calm and adequate. The turbocharged 1.6-liter adds more punch, while the N Line’s turbocharged 2.5-liter, wet dual-clutch automatic, sport suspension, and tuned exhaust are aimed at buyers who want the most engaging setup.
• Safety package: Hyundai’s standard suite includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, driver-attention warning, automatic high-beam headlights, rearview monitor, and Rear Occupant Alert. SEL adds blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-centering assistance, and Safe Exit Assist, while Limited adds a blind-spot view monitor, rear park assist, and surround-view monitor.
• Infotainment: Base models use an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while higher trims move to a 10.25-inch screen with navigation, wireless device charging, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. SEL also gets Blue Link connected services, and the Tech package adds Highway Driving Assist and a panoramic sunroof.
• Fuel efficiency: Combined fuel economy ranges from 32 mpg on the SE to 27 mpg on the N Line, with the SEL, SEL Plus, and Limited at 31 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, N Line, and N Line Night Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and the core Sonata experience. It gives you the standard safety and infotainment basics, but it’s the trim where you’ll feel the most feature restraint.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a stronger comfort-and-convenience mix, including more driver-assistance features and useful everyday upgrades. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• SEL Plus: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top trims. It adds the larger touchscreen, Bose audio, wireless charging, and more premium cabin and exterior touches.
• Limited: This is the right pick if you want the most comfort and convenience features in a conventional Sonata. It adds the most premium equipment, including ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and surround-view monitoring.
• N Line: Pick this if you want the sportiest Sonata. It brings the 290-hp turbocharged engine, sport suspension, wet dual-clutch automatic, and a more aggressive appearance and cabin treatment.
• N Line Night Edition: This is for buyers who want the N Line’s performance and an even darker, more distinctive look. It adds exclusive styling details such as matte black wheels and darkened exterior accents.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but the SEL and Limited trims add meaningful extra driver-assistance and visibility features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,003 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,700, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $19,736 sits slightly below last year's $21,283.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to the model’s earlier average.

The Sonata’s strong value reputation and broad feature content should help it stay appealing to used shoppers. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and clean history should remain easier to move than neglected cars with missing equipment or visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for overall crash protection, with four-star ratings for front crash protection and five-star ratings for side crash protection and rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sonata comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, driver-attention warning, automatic high-beam headlights, rearview monitor, and Rear Occupant Alert. SEL adds blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-centering assistance, and Safe Exit Assist, while Limited adds a blind-spot view monitor, rear park assist, and surround-view monitor.

One caveat is that the IIHS had not rated the 2022 Sonata for crashworthiness in the provided data. The safety story is still strong overall, but shoppers who want the most advanced visibility and parking aids should look closely at SEL and Limited trims.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong value, an outstanding warranty, and a sporty N Line option.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,021, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,736 average.
• It emphasizes on-pavement performance with practical passenger and cargo space.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2022 is the better target because it pairs value, safety, and trim variety with a softer market price. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Sonata’s core appeal.
