CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Honda Ridgeline
overall

Summary
With 79 currently listed for sale near Kansas City, MO and an average price of $28,473, 63.3% of 2022 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Honda Ridgeline 4.65 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline stands out because it approaches pickup-truck duty with a crossover-like mindset. Honda’s lone pickup truck uses the same unibody construction that gives crossover SUVs greater refinement than traditional models, and the result is increased comfort and better on-road handling than most pickups. That makes it a sensible choice for buyers who want truck utility without giving up a smooth, quiet driving experience.
It also helps that the 2022 Ridgeline carries over essentially unchanged after its 2021 facelift, so its appeal is rooted in a proven formula rather than a major redesign. The truck’s strengths are easy to feel in everyday use: great ride quality, a comfortable cabin, and a quiet interior. At the same time, it is not perfect, with an irritating transmission and outdated technology among its drawbacks.
Owners also tend to praise the Ridgeline’s spacious interior and useful features such as the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. Those traits reinforce its practical appeal, even if some shoppers may find the price steep and the ground clearance less suited to off-road use.

This was a great buy. I had a pre-purchase inspection done by my mechanic and he said, "I don't often say this, but I could not find one thing wrong with this vehicle. it's a great truck!" It has all the features I was looking for and at the right price.

Very good value, and as an owner of the older 2013 version of the RTL , this included very nice additions including warnings and dashboard abilities to select personal choices.

This is my third Ridgeline. 2018, 2019 and now a 2023. Best mix of truck and suv. Great ride, solid fuel economy. Enough truck for me. I don’t think I will ever own anything else.

Reviewed a 2022 Honda Ridgeline on Mar 14, 2023
We have had “real trucks” the past decade (2 raptors and a tundra Trd pro)… we actually traded in a 2018 raptor on the ridgeline black edition. So far it’s been great. The trunk inside the bed is genius. It’s obviously not a raptor and it’s not trying to be but for the average customer it’s more than enough truck. It drives comfortable and gas mileage has been awesome compared to what we were used to. On the highway we had to drive super conservative to get 18 mpg. Around town I’m getting 22 and on the highway 25.

Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Honda Ridgeline earns a 4.65/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners repeatedly praise its comfort, spacious interior, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. They also like the smooth ride and quiet cabin, which fit the Ridgeline’s crossover-like approach to pickup duty.
The trade-offs are a steep price and outdated technology, and the expert review also points to an irritating transmission. If you want truck utility with a more refined daily-driving feel, the Ridgeline fits that use case well.
Good and great deals account for 33.0% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a truck that feels comfortable, practical, and trouble-free in everyday use, with buyers especially appreciating the smooth ride and useful storage features. The expert review reinforces that dependable, easy-to-live-with character by emphasizing the Ridgeline’s refined road manners and familiar Honda crossover-like feel.
Honda also backs it with a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about living with its dated tech and transmission behavior.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the transmission, infotainment responsiveness, and overall cabin condition. It also makes sense to confirm that the truck’s practical features and safety equipment work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport trim is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment. The cabin is described as no-nonsense but well finished, and the Black Edition test vehicle included leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power-sliding rear window, and a moonroof.
- Powertrain: The Ridgeline uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It delivers strong everyday grunt, but the transmission is slow to respond and the engine start-stop system can feel sluggish.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim level, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
- Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and Bluetooth. SiriusXM is available on all but the base Sport trim level, and navigation is limited to the RTL-E and Black Edition. The system is easy to use, but the screen is small and the graphics feel dated.
- Fuel efficiency: All models are rated at 21 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway.
Which 2022 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes the Ridgeline’s core strengths accessible at the lowest price. It still gives you the V6, AWD, and Honda Sensing, but it misses some of the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up the range.
- RTL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top of the lineup. It also brings blind spot monitoring, which is a meaningful safety upgrade over the Sport.
- RTL-E: This is the trim to choose if you want more technology and convenience. It adds navigation and automatic high beams, making it a stronger fit if you plan to keep the truck for a while and want a more complete feature set.
- Black Edition: This is the most premium version, with the richest appearance and equipment mix. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Ridgeline experience and do not mind paying for it.
Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim level, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,982 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,550, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $29,583 sits slightly below last year's $32,265.
That decline suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy now but may also temper near-term resale upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you should expect buyers to be value-conscious and compare your truck closely against similarly equipped listings.
The Ridgeline’s practical strengths still support demand, especially for shoppers who want comfort and utility in one package. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline safe?
The Ridgeline received top “Good” scores in most Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, but received a lower “Average” score in the passenger-side small overlap frontal test. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave Honda’s truck a five-star overall safety rating, with five stars in frontal and side crash tests, and four stars in rollover crash testing.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim level, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
The main safety caveat is the lower IIHS passenger-side small overlap frontal result, along with the lack of a 360-degree camera system.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over essentially unchanged after the 2021 facelift, so you get a proven formula with strong comfort and utility.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $27,726, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,583 average.
- It adds a more truck-like appearance while keeping the Ridgeline’s everyday usability.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $31,910, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,583 average.
- It emphasizes everyday practicality and strong safety ratings.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, comfort, and proven capability, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can save you money while keeping the same basic appeal. If you want to spend more for a newer example, the 2023 is worth a look, but the 2022 remains the value-focused sweet spot.
