CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Honda Ridgeline
overall

Summary
With 1,999 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,856.00, 34.9% of 2022 Honda Ridgelines for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Honda Ridgeline 4.65 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
86.3% of 2022 Ridgeline models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
Honda’s lone pickup truck remains a sensible choice, and the 2022 Honda Ridgeline stands out by approaching the midsize truck formula differently. Rather than using traditional truck construction, it uses the same unibody construction that gives crossover SUVs greater refinement than traditional models, which helps explain its comfort and better on-road handling. That different perspective makes it feel less like a conventional pickup and more like a truck built for buyers who care about everyday livability.
For 2022, the Ridgeline carries over essentially unchanged after its 2021 facelift, so its appeal is rooted in the strengths that already define it. The ride quality is a major highlight, along with a comfortable and quiet cabin. Owners also praise its spacious interior, solid value compared to other midsized trucks, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the transmission can be irritating, the technology is outdated, and some reviewers note a steep price, lower ground clearance for off-road use, and touch screen responsiveness issues.

This was a great buy. I had a pre-purchase inspection done by my mechanic and he said, "I don't often say this, but I could not find one thing wrong with this vehicle. it's a great truck!" It has all the features I was looking for and at the right price.

Very good value, and as an owner of the older 2013 version of the RTL , this included very nice additions including warnings and dashboard abilities to select personal choices.

This is my third Ridgeline. 2018, 2019 and now a 2023. Best mix of truck and suv. Great ride, solid fuel economy. Enough truck for me. I don’t think I will ever own anything else.

We have had “real trucks” the past decade (2 raptors and a tundra Trd pro)… we actually traded in a 2018 raptor on the ridgeline black edition. So far it’s been great. The trunk inside the bed is genius. It’s obviously not a raptor and it’s not trying to be but for the average customer it’s more than enough truck. It drives comfortable and gas mileage has been awesome compared to what we were used to. On the highway we had to drive super conservative to get 18 mpg. Around town I’m getting 22 and on the highway 25.

Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline a good car?
Yes — the 4.65/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.67/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Owners repeatedly praise its comfort, spacious interior, smooth ride, and useful features like the in-bed trunk and dual-function tailgate. The truck also earns credit for solid value compared with other midsized trucks and for being easy to live with day to day.

Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on comfort, value, and features you can count on every day.
The truck’s naturally aspirated V6 and standard all-wheel drive add to that sense of durability, and the powertrain is described as having more than enough grunt for normal use. Honda also backs it with a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright failure and more about living with aging tech and a transmission that some drivers find frustrating.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has seen heavy family, towing, or weekend-duty use. Focus on cabin condition, infotainment responsiveness, and signs that the truck has been used hard rather than just driven a lot.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Sport trim skips blind spot monitoring and satellite radio, while higher trims add more convenience and safety equipment.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Efficiency is modest at 21 mpg combined, and the transmission can feel slow to respond.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. The screen is small by current standards, and navigation is reserved for the RTL-E and Black Edition.
- Fuel efficiency: All models are rated at 21 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway.
Which 2022 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Sport is the value entry point, but it lacks blind spot monitoring and satellite radio.
- Sweet-spot trim: The RTL is the best balance if you want more equipment without jumping to the highest prices.
- Premium/top trim: The RTL-E and Black Edition add navigation, and the RTL-E also gets automatic high beams.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims is a true off-road choice, and the truck’s limited ground clearance makes that a real-world caution for trail-focused buyers.
The safety package is strongest once you move above the base Sport, since blind spot monitoring becomes standard on the higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Ridgeline?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.
- Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,029 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.17% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 85.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,748.57, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $29,834 sits slightly below last year's $32,489.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum alone.
Because the Ridgeline still draws strong owner satisfaction, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline safe?
The Ridgeline received top “Good” scores in most Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but received a lower “Average” score in the passenger-side small overlap frontal test. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave Honda’s truck a five-star overall safety rating, with five stars in frontal and side crash tests, and four stars in rollover crash testing.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, Road Departure Mitigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot monitoring is standard on all but the base Sport trim, and automatic high beams are standard on the RTL-E and Black Edition.
The main caveats are the lower IIHS passenger-side small overlap result, a marginal headlight rating, and the lack of a 360-degree camera system.
Should I buy a 2022 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.17% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over the 2021 facelift and keeps the Ridgeline’s comfort-first, everyday-use focus.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $28,111, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,834 average.
- It emphasizes a more traditional truck look while keeping practical appeal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,276, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,834 average.
- It leans harder into practicality and modern safety features.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and broad inventory, the 2022 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2023 is the next step up.
