Used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearAurora, CO

How much does the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.17% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,522 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — owners give it 5/5, and the expert rating is 7.67/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, luxurious interior, and excellent features. You also see recurring positives around strong powertrains and good fuel efficiency, especially with the diesel engine.

The trade-offs are a poor ergonomic design and weaker fuel economy. That matters most if you want a truck that feels easy to live with every day rather than one that simply looks and feels upscale.

Given its premium-leaning full-size pickup mission, it makes the most sense if you want capability with a more refined cabin and richer tech than a basic work truck. The market still shows 35.6% good or great deals, which keeps it appealing for shoppers who want value as well as equipment.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the truck’s smooth ride, strong powertrains, and durable-feeling upscale cabin. The diesel engine also gets singled out for efficiency and confidence over time.

The expert drive notes reinforce that dependability with strong powertrain performance and a composed, compliant ride. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the truck was maintained well, since a premium full-size pickup can become expensive if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident history, title status, and prior use. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage truck or one that was used for towing. Focus your walkaround on cabin wear, bed condition, and signs that the truck’s premium features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate. The base trims are more straightforward, while the higher trims add more upscale materials, more distinctive styling, and more specialized equipment.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel inline-six, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 6.2-liter V8. The diesel stands out for efficiency and towing strength, while the higher-output V8 is standard on the AT4X and Denali Ultimate.
• Safety package: GMC Pro Safety includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is standard only on the Denali Ultimate, and trailering-focused features include Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, GCW Alert, and up to 14 camera views.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google built-in. Wireless device charging is standard, and three years of complimentary service is included for Sierra AT4 and Denali trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The AT4X is rated at 13 city, 17 highway, and 14 combined mpg.

Which 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the entry point if you want the Sierra’s core capability at the lowest price, but it’s the most stripped-down choice in the lineup.
• SLE: This is the first step up if you want a more balanced mix of everyday usability and equipment without jumping deep into luxury pricing.
• Elevation: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a better-equipped feel without moving all the way to the premium trims.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale experience while staying below the luxury-focused models.
• AT4: Pick this if you want the off-road-leaning personality and a more rugged setup without going all the way to the top of the range.
• Denali: This is the luxury-oriented choice if you want the Sierra’s premium styling and richer cabin materials.
• AT4X: This is the off-road-focused premium trim, with more specialized hardware and a more adventurous character.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the top choice if you want the most luxurious Sierra, plus the most advanced tech and the strongest feature set.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that Super Cruise is limited to the Denali Ultimate.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,522 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,360, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $41,360 sits slightly below last year's $45,537.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment rather than just model-year age.

Higher-spec trucks with desirable features and strong owner satisfaction should hold attention better than plain configurations. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 earns mostly Good ratings from IIHS, but it also receives a Marginal grade in the front-passenger small overlap test and a Poor grade for headlights.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

GMC Pro Safety is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is a standout feature, but it is limited to the Denali Ultimate.

The weak spot to note is the headlight result, which is a meaningful caveat if you do a lot of night driving. That makes it especially important to check the exact equipment on the truck you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a major redesign with more upscale trims, stronger tech, and broader capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,534, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,360 average.
• It offers familiar capability with unique GMC touches and multiple body styles.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $44,495, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $41,360 average.
• It pushes luxury further with a more upscale Denali Ultimate focus.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, features, and modernized design, the 2022 is the strongest default choice. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the better value play, while the 2023 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer luxury-leaning setup.
