Used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale near Colorado

How much does the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,463 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and configurations.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, luxurious interior, and excellent features, and many also call out the strong powertrains and good fuel efficiency, especially with the diesel engine. The Sierra’s premium positioning and upscale cabin help it stand out if you want a truck that feels more refined than a basic workhorse. On the other hand, the poor ergonomic design and fuel economy are the main trade-offs to keep in mind.

The market currently shows 35.9% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free over time, with many drivers expressing confidence in its long-term ownership experience. The expert test-drive notes also emphasize smooth operation and strong powertrain performance, which supports the impression that the Sierra is built to be counted on. If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is making sure the truck was maintained well, since a premium pickup can be costly to sort out after neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, electronics, and any signs of hard use, especially if the truck was used for towing or off-road driving. Focus on overall condition and equipment level, because the Sierra’s value changes a lot with trim and option content.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sierra lineup spans Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate. The base trims are more straightforward, while higher trims add more upscale materials, larger wheels, and more distinctive styling; the Denali Ultimate and AT4X are the most feature-rich and specialized versions.
• Powertrain: You can find a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel inline-six, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. The turbo-four and diesel were enhanced for 2022, and the diesel is the standout if you want strong torque and impressive towing capability.
• Safety package: GMC Pro Safety includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is standard only on the Denali Ultimate, and trailering-focused features include up to 14 camera views, GCW Alert, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and updated adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google built-in. Android and Apple compatibility are included, wireless device charging is standard across the lineup, and three years of complimentary service is included for Sierra AT4 and Denali trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The AT4X is rated at 13 city, 17 highway, and 14 combined mpg.

Which 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the most affordable path into the Sierra lineup, so it makes sense if you want the truck’s core capability and don’t need the upscale extras.
• SLE: This is a sensible step up if you want a little more everyday comfort and equipment without jumping too far in price.
• Elevation: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look while staying below the premium trims.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel without pushing all the way into luxury pricing.
• AT4: Pick this if you want the off-road-oriented personality and a more rugged setup.
• Denali: This is the trim to buy if you want the classic luxury-leaning Sierra experience with a more premium cabin and appearance.
• AT4X: This is the choice for buyers who want the most serious off-road hardware and a top-tier cabin.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the flagship if you want the most luxurious Sierra, plus Super Cruise as standard.

For safety, GMC Pro Safety is standard, while Super Cruise is limited to the Denali Ultimate.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s-market bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,463 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,641, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $41,641 sits slightly below last year's $45,626.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you can still protect value reasonably well. Higher-trim Sierras with desirable equipment tend to hold attention better than stripped-down versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 received mostly “Good” ratings from IIHS, but it earned a “Marginal” grade in the front-passenger small overlap test and a “Poor” grade for headlights. With NHTSA, Sierra 2WD models earned four-star ratings for crashworthiness.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

GMC Pro Safety is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights. Super Cruise is a standout feature, but it is limited to the Denali Ultimate and is not available on lower trims. The headlight result is the main safety caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 redesign adds more upscale styling, a richer cabin, and new Denali Ultimate and AT4X trims.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,653, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,641 average.
• It offers familiar capability with multiple body styles and powertrains.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $44,702, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $41,641 average.
• It pushes luxury further with a more upscale Denali Ultimate focus.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price movement, inventory, and the redesigned Sierra’s premium upgrades, the 2022 is the strongest all-around pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the value play; if you want to spend more for a newer luxury-leaning setup, the 2023 is the step-up choice.
