CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Ford Bronco Sport
Summary
With 367 currently listed for sale and an average price of $22,322, 40.9% of 2022 Ford Bronco Sport listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport stands out as a smaller, more affordable take on the Bronco formula, with a boxy shape and a more rugged personality than its Ford Escape platform mate. It is positioned as a light adventure vehicle, and its appeal comes from blending everyday usability with genuine off-road intent. Buyers looking for style and capability in a compact package will also find that it comes standard with all-wheel drive, which helps reinforce its outdoorsy mission.
For 2022, the Bronco Sport’s cabin and feature set still emphasize practicality and cleverness. Standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Sync 3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Ford’s G.O.A.T. modes, and the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite. The model also offers useful touches such as a washable rubberized floor, a safari-style roof for extra cargo height, molle straps on the front seat backs, and a built-in bottle opener in the liftgate. Its off-road credibility is a major draw, especially on the Badlands trim, which adds a twin-clutch rear drive unit with torque vectoring, an advanced off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, skid plates, front tow hooks, and up to 8.8 inches of ground clearance.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Bronco Sport’s interior materials are described as cheap, and its touchscreen controls can be excessive. Reliability is also a weak point, with the 2022 model year receiving only a slightly higher, but still not great, reliability verdict. Even so, for shoppers who want a compact SUV with distinctive styling, strong handling, standard all-wheel drive, and real weekend-ready versatility, the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport has a clear identity.

Exceeded my expectations - the car in with this trim with this engine are impressive enough. But with the added options, it’s amazing. Looks good on the road and driving experience is good.

I absolutely love, love, love my new to me car! I’m a simple kind of girl (so I’ve been told), so the heated seats, CarPlay, and reverse camera were really the only features I wanted! But, I love the “Cyber Orange” or as the my 12 year old puts it “Potassium”! 🤣

I love everything about this SUV. Body style and interior are beautifully designed. My only complaint is that you have to change the driving mode (GOAT mode) every time you start the vehicle as it defaults to normal mode always. Would love the option to keep it in economy mode if I want. However its a small annoyance for the pleasure of driving this vehicle.

How much does the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,527 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,527 |
| Year-Round High | $24,492 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,487 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.09% |
Prices have softened 12.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 5,500 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport a good car?
Yes — owners give it a 4.9/5 rating, which points to strong satisfaction with the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. Reviewers repeatedly praise its handling, comfort, features, fuel economy, and off-road capability, and the model’s practical, adventure-ready setup fits shoppers who want a compact SUV with everyday usability and weekend versatility. The market also shows 35.0% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, features, and capability that can make the vehicle easier to count on day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, so a careful pre-purchase check is especially important.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Bronco Sport?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still review the history report carefully and confirm there are no hidden accident or title issues. Put the inspection priority on overall condition, especially the interior, controls, and any signs of hard use. Because this model leans into adventure use, it’s smart to focus on wear that could come from frequent outdoor or off-road driving.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Bronco Sport?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what to look for.
- Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 5,500 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.09% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 83.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,527, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport's resale value?
The current average of $21,527 sits slightly below last year's $24,487.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For future sellers, a softer market means condition, mileage, and trim appeal matter even more when it comes time to list. Strong presentation and a clean history can help you stand out if prices remain under pressure.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.09% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $19,627, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $21,527 average.
- It offers a lively, capable, and attractive compact SUV experience.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the better starting point. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers the Bronco Sport’s core appeal.
