Why it stands out
The 2022 Ford Bronco stands out because it delivers the kind of off-road capability that has made it one of the most talked-about SUVs in its class, while still being significantly better to drive on pavement. That combination gives it a broader appeal than a pure trail rig, and the deep roster of Bronco models means there is one for almost any skill level and a wide range of budgets. Ford also gives it multiple body styles, which adds to its versatility and helps make the Bronco feel tailored to different kinds of buyers.
Its strengths are easy to understand: incredible off-road capabilities and plenty of cargo space make it a compelling choice for shoppers who want adventure without giving up everyday usefulness. The Bronco’s popularity also speaks to how well it lands with buyers, though that demand has made it sold out for 2022. The tradeoffs are worth noting, too, since advanced safety features are not standard and its safety scores are middling.

Definitely over priced!! Kind of generic plastic inside. The 4 cylinder turbo is under powered- definitely find a v6 turbo. Rides smoothly. Very weak sound system .. don’t know how Bang and Olufsem sounds. Manual seats are pretty annoying. Hard top was $5k n totally plastic. It’s cool to own a Bronco but for the money , you should get a loaded Wrangler. It is way better priced and way better options - but …. They are 20 to 1 on the road wranglers to Broncos

I’ve owned two Jeep Wranglers and the Bronco puts them to shame. Excellent ride, steering, suspension and handling. The vehicle is comfortable, roomy and a much better vehicle for daily driving versus the Wrangler. The soft top is quick and simple to lower and appears to be of good quality and the visibility is excellent through all windows thanks to the frameless doors that are a breeze to remove. This is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned!

How much does the 2022 Ford Bronco cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $37,947 |
| Year-Round Low | $37,917.17 |
| Year-Round High | $41,715.51 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $41,724 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.05% |
Prices have softened 9.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 4,020 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and body styles. If you find a listing below $37,917.17, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Ford Bronco earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its performance, off-road capability, stylish design, comfort, tech features, and spaciousness. The Bronco’s broad trim range and multiple body styles also make it appealing if you want something tailored to your needs rather than a one-size-fits-all SUV.
The main trade-offs are value and equipment packaging: some owners feel it is overpriced, and too many essential features are optional. That fits the Bronco’s use case well if you want adventure-first capability and everyday versatility, but it is less compelling if you want a fully loaded SUV without stepping up the trim ladder.
With 32.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with many shoppers describing it as a strong long-term choice for the kind of use it is built for. The Bronco’s rugged engineering and broad appeal also support the sense that it can be counted on for adventure-focused ownership.
The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by noting how well the Bronco behaves on pavement and how confidently it handles difficult terrain. Ford also says the available safety systems function as advertised, with no false alarms or glitches.
For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is not basic dependability so much as the possibility of paying extra for features that were optional when new.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Bronco?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the Bronco has seen trail use or heavy modification. Focus on condition details that matter on a rugged SUV: underbody wear, tire and suspension condition, and signs that off-road hardware has been used hard.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup ranges from a more basic, utilitarian setup to models with more off-road hardware and comfort features, and the base trim leaves some important safety equipment off the standard list.
- Powertrain: You can choose a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, or a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 330 hp and 415 lb-ft; the four-cylinder can be paired with a seven-speed manual, while the V6 uses a 10-speed automatic.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes hill-start assist, hill descent control, and trailer sway control, while frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams are available on all but the base trim as part of the optional Mid package.
- Infotainment: The Sync 4 system brings quick responses and sharp graphics, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the lineup.
- Fuel efficiency: The base two-door with the four-cylinder is rated at 20 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined; the V6 ranges down to 17 mpg combined in some configurations.
Which 2022 Ford Bronco trim should I buy?
The 2022 Ford Bronco is offered in 7 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades.
Here's the short version:
- Base: This is the entry point if you want the Bronco’s core off-road character at the lowest starting price, but you should expect to add packages if you want more advanced safety and convenience equipment.
- Big Bend: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability while staying below the higher-priced off-road and luxury-oriented models.
- Black Diamond: Choose this if you want a stronger off-road focus than the lower trims, along with more rugged equipment for trail use.
- Outer Banks: This is the better pick if you care more about comfort and style than maximum trail hardware, while still keeping the Bronco’s core capability.
- Badlands: This is the right choice if you want a serious off-road setup and are willing to pay for it.
- Wildtrak: This trim suits you if you want one of the most capable Bronco setups without moving into the top specialty model.
- Everglades: This is the most specialized choice, with swamp- and water-focused hardware including an intake snorkel, a Warn winch, and 35-inch mud-terrain tires.
The safety-package setup is worth noting: the Mid package adds several key driver-assistance features on all but the base trim, while the High and Luxe packages layer in even more equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Bronco?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping rather than impulse buying.
- Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,020 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.05% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $37,917.17, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Ford Bronco's resale value?
The current average of $37,947 sits slightly below last year's $41,724.
That price movement suggests the Bronco has cooled from its earlier peak, which can help you buy more carefully now and may also limit how much depreciation you absorb in the near term. If demand stays strong, especially for well-kept examples, that should help support future resale values.
For a future seller, the key is to buy a Bronco in strong condition and avoid overpaying for a trim or package that the market does not reward enough later. Models with the right mix of capability, condition, and desirability should remain easier to move than heavily worn examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Ford Bronco safe?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the standard Bronco its best score of “Good” in frontal, side, and roof strength tests and its second highest score of “Acceptable” for head restraints and seats. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not fully evaluated the Bronco in crash tests, but the four-door has received four-out-of-five stars for frontal crash protection, and both the four- and two-door Broncos have a three-out-of-five-star rating for rollover protection.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety features include hill-start assist, hill descent control, and trailer sway control. Frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams are available on all but the base trim as part of the optional Mid package. Front parking sensors and a surround-view camera system are offered with the High package, while the Luxe package adds adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist.
The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to pay attention to trim and package content if safety tech matters to you.
Should I buy a 2022 Ford Bronco or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.05% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines broad trim choice with strong off-road ability and better pavement manners than many rivals.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $36,979, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $37,947 average.
- It is a purpose-built off-roader with a sharper focus on capability than comfort.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $41,852, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $37,947 average.
- It adds nine distinct models and broader tailoring for different shoppers.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and proven appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want more model variety and are willing to pay more, the 2023 is the step up to consider.
