The Ferrari Roma is a high-end performance grand-touring coupe. Historically, these types of front/mid-engined Ferrari coupes are exclusively powered by V12 engines, but the Roma is powered by a V8. This makes the classic GT coupe ideal a more attainable goal. The Roma features a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 that is nestled ahead of the driver but behind the front wheels, hence the “front/mid” designation. This makes for a more ideal weight distribution for performance driving. It produces 612 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque, routed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This setup is good for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 3.4 seconds on the way to a listed top speed of 199 mph. The Roma features carbon ceramic disc brakes, and it works with the dynamics control system to optimize high-performance cornering. The Roma’s cabin is a true modern performance/luxury cockpit. The F1-inspired steering wheel features the start/stop button and a dial toggle with five distinct driving modes: Comfort, Wet, Sport, Race, and ESC-off. The cockpit features a fully digital instrument panel, an 8.4-inch touchscreen in a portrait orientation, and a smaller touchscreen for the passenger. The latter provides some navigation controls for the front passenger to act as co-pilot. There are a handful of available driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and lane-departure warning.
