About 2022 Ferrari Roma
The Ferrari Roma is a high-end performance grand-touring coupe. Historically, these types of front/mid-engined Ferrari coupes are exclusively powered by V12 engines, but the Roma is powered by a V8. This makes the classic GT coupe ideal a more attainable goal. The whole package is neatly wrapped up in styling that can easily be described as “passion on wheels.” The Roma was introduced in the North American market for the 2021 model year, and it carries over into the 2022 model year with minimal changes. It is positioned above Ferrari’s “entry-level” front-engined convertible, the Portofino M. The Roma features a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 that is nestled ahead of the driver but behind the front wheels, hence the “front/mid” designation. This makes for a more ideal weight distribution for performance driving. It produces 612 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque, routed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This setup is good for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 3.4 seconds on the way to a listed top speed of 199 mph. The Roma features carbon ceramic disc brakes, and it works with the dynamics control system to optimize high-performance cornering. The Roma’s cabin is a true modern performance/luxury cockpit. The F1-inspired steering wheel features the start/stop button and a dial toggle with five distinct driving modes: Comfort, Wet, Sport, Race, and ESC-off. The cockpit features a fully digital instrument panel, an 8.4-inch touchscreen in a portrait orientation, and a smaller touchscreen for the passenger. The latter provides some navigation controls for the front passenger to act as co-pilot. There are a handful of available driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, and lane-departure warning.
