How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse cost?

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, the helpful safety features, and the powerful engine. The large cargo area and comfortable seating also come up repeatedly as major advantages, while some shoppers wish for more advanced driving tech and better fuel economy.

From the expert side, the Traverse fits you well if you want a three-row SUV with easy-to-use technology and a practical, family-friendly layout. The trade-offs are a cheap-feeling cabin, noticeable noise, and too much float over rough pavement.

With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the engine, interior space, and overall usefulness. The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the Traverse as a sensible, easy-to-live-with family SUV with straightforward controls and predictable behavior.

The powertrain is simple, which can help reduce ownership complexity, and the vehicle’s everyday usability makes it easy to count on for family duty. If you buy used, your biggest long-term risk is likely to come from condition and maintenance history rather than from a complicated drivetrain.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Traverse?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, and signs of hard use, since this SUV’s value depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS starts with front-wheel drive and a 7-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add more upscale equipment and styling. The RS, Premier, and High Country bring more premium features, and the RS also adds blacked-out trim and 20-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: Every Traverse uses a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It is the only engine choice, and the EPA fuel economy rating for AWD is 20 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following-distance indicator. The optional Safety Package for the LS adds rear parking assist sensors, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert; those features are standard on other trims.
• Infotainment: LS and LT Cloth models get a 7-inch touchscreen, while other versions get an 8-inch high-definition display. Both systems include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth for two smartphones, and connected services with a WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD model is rated at 20 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 20.9 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but the available information emphasizes the LS more clearly as the practical starting point, so you should only choose this if you are chasing the lowest possible price.
• LS: This is the best-value starting point for most shoppers because it gives you the core Traverse formula without pushing you into pricier trims. It also keeps the lineup accessible while still letting you add the optional Safety Package if you want more driver-assistance coverage.
• LT Cloth: This trim adds a step up in comfort and equipment over the LS while staying closer to the value end of the lineup than the leather-focused versions.
• LT Leather: This is the better pick if you want a more upscale cabin, and it can be optioned with the extra safety upgrades that are standard on higher trims.
• RS: This trim adds a more distinctive look with blacked-out styling and 20-inch wheels, plus a Bose premium sound system and available surround-view camera support. It suits you if style matters as much as family utility.
• Premier: This is the first trim that clearly leans upscale, with the 8-inch digital instrumentation panel and the vibrating Safety Alert Seat. It is a strong choice if you want more premium features without going all the way to the top.
• High Country: This is the most luxurious version and brings the same premium safety and convenience upgrades as the Premier, along with the highest-positioned trim experience in the lineup.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, while the Safety Package is optional on the LS and standard on the other trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Traverse?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,037 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,584, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse's resale value?

The current average of $24,584 sits slightly below last year's $28,214.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Traverse’s value is being supported more by utility and demand than by appreciation.

If the market stays soft, resale will likely depend on condition, mileage, and trim desirability more than on broad price momentum. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history should still attract family buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse gets top “Good” ratings in collision-related IIHS tests except in a new, more stringent side-impact test, where it rates “Acceptable.”

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all trims and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following-distance indicator. The optional Safety Package on the LS adds rear parking assist sensors, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert, and those features are standard on the other trims.

Higher trims add adaptive cruise control, higher-speed automatic emergency braking, and rear pedestrian alert, while the vibrating Safety Alert Seat is reserved for Premier and High Country. One limitation to keep in mind is that the Traverse does not offer a lane-centering system.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Chevy Safety Assist standard across the lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,296, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,584 average.
• It offers a wide trim spread and a roomy, practical three-row layout.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current used Traverse, the 2022 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you can live with an older model year, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
