Used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 10.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,738 listings available, which points to solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns 4.3/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful engines, smooth ride, good value, fuel efficiency, and comfort. The refreshed cabin also stands out, especially for buyers who care about a more modern interior and stronger tech.

The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: the ZR2 can’t match the power of rivals, the old interior design remains in WT and Custom trims, and Google Built-in isn’t necessarily better than what Chevrolet used before.

For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want a full-size pickup with broad capability and a more appealing cabin than earlier versions. The market also shows 35.4% of listings as good or great deals, which supports a selective-shopping approach.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback also points to a truck that feels powerful, comfortable, and good value over time, with drivers specifically calling out the engines, smooth ride, and fuel efficiency.

The expert evaluation reinforces that dependable, everyday usability matters here: the Silverado is described as comfortable with impressive technology, and the refreshed interior helps it feel more modern for long-term ownership. The cost-effectiveness discussion also suggests a more affordable, more efficient alternative in the lineup if you want to reduce ownership strain.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a truck with neglected condition or missing features, especially in lower trims that did not get the interior updates.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize an inspection that focuses on cabin condition, feature content, and whether the truck has the updated interior and tech you want. If you’re shopping lower trims, pay extra attention to equipment gaps and whether the truck feels like the version you expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Starting with the LT trim, the refreshed interior brings digital instrumentation, a widescreen infotainment touchscreen, and improved quality and materials, while WT and Custom trims keep the old interior design.
• Powertrain: The lineup offers multiple powertrain options, including a standard turbocharged four-cylinder and a turbodiesel inline-six with a big towing-capacity bump.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all models, and it includes the basic driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features you’d expect. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The Silverado’s 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with 360L, connected services, a WiFi hotspot, navigation, and Google Built-in.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbodiesel engine is described as more efficient, and the ZR2 returned 16.3 mpg in mixed driving, with an official EPA combined rating of 14 mpg.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in numerous trim levels: Work Truck (WT), LT, High Country, and Silverado ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• Work Truck (WT): This is the most basic choice, but it keeps the old interior design, so it makes the most sense only if you want a work-focused truck and can live without the refreshed cabin upgrades.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it gets the new interior, digital instrumentation, and the widescreen infotainment touchscreen while staying below the luxury end of the lineup.
• High Country: Choose this if you want the most upscale Silverado experience and may want to add Super Cruise.
• Silverado ZR2: This is the off-road performance model, with standard 4WD, a lifted suspension, 33-inch all-terrain tires, skid plates, and hardware aimed at challenging terrain.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert remain available upgrades on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,738 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,757, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,757 sits slightly below last year's $37,591.

That decline suggests the truck is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the truck in strong condition so you’re not starting from a weaker price position.

The Silverado’s broad appeal, strong owner satisfaction, and continued demand for full-size pickups should help support resale interest over time. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2022 Silverado Limited (LTD) got a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and earned unimpressive results in Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all 2022 Silverado models, and it includes the basic driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features you’d expect on a modern vehicle. Every Silverado also comes with Teen Driver, which tracks how the truck is driven and produces a report card for the owner after someone uses it.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available upgrades on lower trims. If you choose High Country, you can add Super Cruise, which adds hands-free driving capability on approved highways, along with adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, and driver monitoring.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The refreshed cabin and updated tech make this year feel much more modern.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,494, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,757 average.
• It offers broad configurability and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,526, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,757 average.
• It adds more power for the optional Duramax diesel and a new ZR2 Bison off-road trim.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, updated cabin quality, and broad appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 can still make sense, especially if you prioritize value over the refreshed interior.
