Used 2021 Volvo V60 for Sale near Maryland

Is the 2021 Volvo V60 a good car?

The 2021 Volvo V60 earns an 8/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

It stands out as a classic wagon in a market that has largely moved away from the body style, and it brings the premium feel you expect from Volvo. The V60 is also relatively fresh and unchanged for 2021, which makes it appealing if you want a modern luxury wagon without chasing the newest redesign.

The trade-offs are clear: cargo space is limited, and the base engine is underwhelming. Even so, it remains a compelling all-rounder if you value style, road manners, and a distinctive wagon format over maximum utility. Good and great deals account for 32.9% of listings, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Volvo V60 reliable?

The 2021 Volvo V60 is presented as a relatively fresh model, and that usually helps reduce the risk of early-model wear compared with a fully redesigned vehicle. Its standard turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain is also described as more linear and easier to live with than the plug-in hybrid setup, which points to a simpler ownership experience for most used buyers.

Volvo’s standard safety and driver-assist equipment is extensive, and the brand’s emphasis on durability shows up in the cabin materials and overall execution. The V60 also comes with a four-year, 50,000-mile basic warranty and a four-year, 50,000-mile powertrain warranty.

For long-term ownership, your biggest used-car risk is likely to come from condition and maintenance history rather than from the model’s basic design.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Volvo V60?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, electronics, and any signs of prior bodywork. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment, since some desirable luxury features were optional rather than standard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design trims differ in styling, and the Inscription adds extra chrome while the R-Design gets a sportier motif. Base-model equipment can be sparse, so check carefully for the luxury features you want.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. Cross Country models use the same engine with all-wheel drive, while the Polestar Engineered plug-in hybrid adds electric-motor assist and a much higher output.
• Safety package: Volvo’s standard suite includes a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, run-off road mitigation, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, cyclist, and large-animal detection, forward-collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Pilot Assist and a 360-degree camera are optional.
• Infotainment: The V60 uses a 9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and Bluetooth. Wireless smartphone charging is available, and the options list includes a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive turbo-four returns 23 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, while the Cross Country is rated at 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 69 MPGe combined and 30 mpg combined in hybrid mode.

Which 2021 Volvo V60 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Volvo V60 is offered in 3 trim levels: Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design.

Here's the short version:

• Momentum: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the V60’s core style and driving character without stretching for extras. It’s the trim to watch if you’re shopping on value, but you should verify which comfort and convenience features are included on the specific car you’re considering.
• Inscription: This trim leans more into luxury, with extra chrome and a more upscale presentation. It suits you if you want the V60 to feel more premium inside and out.
• R-Design: This is the sportier-looking choice, with a more aggressive visual theme. Pick it if you care more about appearance and a sharper vibe than about maximizing value.

Volvo is more generous than many rivals with standard driver-assist tech, but Pilot Assist and the 360-degree camera are still optional.

Is the 2021 Volvo V60 safe?

The 2021 Volvo V60 earns the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side and rollover crash tests and four-star ratings in frontal crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo’s standard safety equipment includes seats with energy-absorbing cushions and an anti-submarining design, plus Care Key, which lets the owner limit top speed when lending out the car. Standard driver-assist features include a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, run-off road mitigation, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, cyclist, and large-animal detection, forward-collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The main caveat is that the IIHS gave the V60 an Acceptable rating for child-seat anchor ease of use, and Pilot Assist remains optional rather than standard.

Should I buy a 2021 Volvo V60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• The 2021 model is described as relatively fresh and unchanged, which makes it a good fit if you want a modern luxury wagon without waiting for a redesign.

If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may find better value by comparing nearby years and focusing on the cleanest, best-equipped example rather than the newest one.
