About 2019 Volvo V60
The all-new 2019 Volvo V60 features a sculpted shape with cool details like slim LED headlights that are shaped like Thor’s hammer. The interior showcases the best in Scandinavian design, and it’s the latest Volvo to move to the automaker’s Scalable Product Architecture platform. Under the hood, the base V60 T5 gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and is front-wheel drive (FWD). The T6 gets a “twin-charged” (supercharged and turbocharged) version of the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 316 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque that goes to all four wheels. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic only. Volvo is planning a plug-in hybrid version of the V60, but it isn’t slated to come to the U.S. yet. Fuel economy figures aren’t out yet for this fresh redesign, but the T5 should at least match last year’s 25 mpg city, 36 highway, and 25 combined. Drive modes can be selected via a rotary controller, and the engine has stop/start ignition for greater fuel economy. At 187.4 inches long with a 113-inch wheelbase, the new V60 is notably longer than the old model. Suspension is by double wishbones up front and Volvo’s “integral link” rear, and steering is controlled by an electronically power-assisted rack-and-pinion setup. The V60 is available with 19-inch alloy wheels and Volvo’s Four-C active chassis system, which adapts the shocks based on road conditions and driving style. Centered in the dash of the V60 is a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system flanked by similarly shaped vents. The complete list of standard and optional features isn’t out yet, but standard features will include a power tailgate, panoramic moonroof, and a Harman Kardon 14-speaker stereo. A Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker unit will be an option. In addition to its much better looks, the new V60 is also superior in terms of spaciousness. The extra length translates to 1.7 inches of additional legroom in the back and 29.7 cubic feet of cargo area. The 60/40 split rear seats open it up to 48.2 cubic feet of maximum space. Volvos are renowned for their world class safety. Typically built like tanks, these vehicles are industry leaders in safety technology. Standard on the 2019 V60 is Volvo’s City Safety suite of cutting edge features including automatic emergency braking with collision and pedestrian avoidance, lane-keeping assistance, and rear cross-traffic alert. A Pilot Assist system, which can steer, accelerate, and brake automatically, a surround-view camera, and the Park Assist Pilot system (self-parking the V60 in a space as tight as 1.2 times the overall length of the car) are all available add-ons. The V60 hasn’t been tested by the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) yet, but it will undoubtedly post top rankings.
