Why it stands out
The 2021 Toyota Sequoia, though aging, remains a formidable option for those seeking a full-size SUV with significant towing capabilities and spacious interiors. This model offers a noteworthy 5.7-liter V8 engine, yielding 381 horsepower, which ensures robust acceleration typical of the truck-based SUV category. While its six-speed automatic transmission may not align with modern standards, the Sequoia's driving experience is characterized by a truck-like feel that instills confidence among drivers.
Inside, the Sequoia excels with its roomy cabin, offering up to 120 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded. However, some interior design aspects reveal its dated nature, with a center dash that feels somewhat outdated compared to newer SUVs. Still, owners appreciate the simplicity of the infotainment system, which features standard compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it intuitive to use. Despite its drawbacks in handling and fuel efficiency, the Sequoia's reputation for reliability and the robust performance of its V8 engine make it a compelling choice for families or adventurers who need large passenger and cargo capacities.
