Is the 2021 Tesla Model X a good car?

Yes — 4.7/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2021 Model X stands out as a large, all-electric family SUV with unusual packaging, serious performance, and long-range capability. It seats up to seven passengers and adds a redesigned interior, updated powertrain, faster infotainment, updated Autopilot hardware, and a more premium cabin feel.

For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a distinctive three-row EV with advanced tech and quick acceleration rather than a conventional crossover. 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Tesla Model X reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2021 Model X’s appeal comes from its updated powertrain, new electrical architecture, and revised cabin, all of which point to a more modern ownership experience than earlier versions. It also brings extensive standard equipment, which can make the vehicle feel well-equipped from day one.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained carefully and that its complex features still work as intended.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Tesla Model X?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the vehicle closely for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or inconsistent panel fit. Pay extra attention to the Falcon Wing doors, interior electronics, and overall condition of the cabin and controls, since this model year leans heavily on advanced hardware and features.

A careful pre-purchase inspection can help you separate a clean, well-kept example from one that may have hidden issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Tesla Model X?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 468 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,241, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Tesla Model X's resale value?

The current average of $36,241 sits slightly below last year's $37,693.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are limited if prices continue to soften. If you plan to sell later, your best protection is buying a clean example at a strong price and keeping it in excellent condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Tesla Model X or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling Model X in this range, the 2021 is the one to target because it brings the major overhaul and a strong mix of tech, range, and performance. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2021 is the better pick when you want the updated cabin and feature set.
