Why it stands out
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 distinguishes itself as Volkswagen's first mass-market electric crossover, designed to rival traditional gasoline vehicles. It offers a unique design that breaks away from typical gas-powered vehicle styling, showcasing a streamlined profile and ample cabin space. The ID.4 is available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), with the latter option delivering up to 295 horsepower, promoting a spirited yet comfortable drive. With standard advanced safety features and a commendable 250-mile range (for RWD models), it caters to both tech-savvy drivers and families looking for spaciousness. However, some owners have voiced concerns over specific functionalities, like backup camera reliability and battery performance in colder environments, while the infotainment controls are sometimes described as unintuitive. Despite these drawbacks, the ID.4's overall performance, comfort, and design have garnered enthusiastic reviews from its owners, positioning it strongly in the competitive EV market.

Awesome, it drives smooth and it is swift and comfortable. I love it, very beautiful design. Only problem I have the battery drains a little bit faster than I expected.

I own two VW id4s. First was ID4 pro FWD which got stuck in just a hint of snow and therefore was not a good choice for me. Next was ID 4 base model AWD, which is awesome and can drive through 6 in of wet crusty snow with no problem at all. There are not very many AWD EVs out there, so I think this is an incredible choice. I was lucky to get one! To be fair the FWD car had all season tires, whereas the car I drove in todays snow does have winter tires. I do think the all-wheel drive has more to do with it than the snow tires. In any case the AWD ID 4 is a real winter winner! 4 stars only because some of the safety features become annoying, for instance if I turn around in my seat for better visibility while I back up the car refuses to go. And the backup camera and warning system is not as reliable as actually looking behind me

Love the car. Really was hoping it had turn signal cameras and displayed the tire pressure numbers for each tire. Otherwise pretty great!
