CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Kia Stinger
overall
Summary
With 425 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,519, 28.9% of 2021 Kia Stingers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Kia Stinger 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.83 / 10.
67.8% of 2021 Stinger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Kia Stinger stands out because Kia took a brand long known for value and used it to show off a sporty side. It is described as a head-turning, low-slung, four-door sports car, which makes it feel unusual for the brand and gives it a distinctive place in the lineup. For buyers looking for something different, that combination of performance and style is a big part of the appeal.
It also has a strong value story. The Stinger is presented as an absolute value performance and luxury car, and it shares underpinnings with the Genesis G70 luxury sedan while sometimes feeling more special than its upscale corporate cousin. The car is also praised for excellent value for money, multiple powertrain options, and being fun to drive. One drawback is that advanced safety features are not standard, so shoppers who want the latest driver aids may need to pay close attention to equipment.

Have a 2021 GT1 AWD. Owned for 6 months. Bought used because we couldnt find a 2023 in our area we wanted. Best value compared to the Audi A5 Sportback and Mercedes CLA 250/AMG 35. The 3.3L twin turbo is a dream. My wife and I absolutely love this car.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and you need to move up the lineup to get more of the driver-assistance equipment. Even so, if you want a sporty sedan with upscale appeal and a strong value story, this model year fits that brief well.
31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Stinger’s value-focused positioning and generous warranty coverage support its reliability case, and the expert assessment also emphasizes its strong overall appeal as a performance-luxury car. Its standard four-cylinder and available V6 powertrains give you options, and the car is described as a well-rounded, engaging sedan rather than a one-note performance model.
The 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty is a meaningful ownership perk if you plan to keep the car for a while. For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been driven hard without proper care.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or more heavily optioned car. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you’re paying for.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes GT-Line, GT, GT1, and GT2. The base GT-Line comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped flat-bottomed sport steering wheel. GT1 adds LED accent lighting, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and the more powerful V6 powertrain, while GT2 adds Nappa leather, 16-way power-adjustable sport seats with Air Cell lumbar support, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Powertrain: The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The GT uses a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams are reserved for higher-level GT1 and GT2 models.
- Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while upgraded trims get an 8-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, and wireless device charging. The GT2 adds a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo and a head-up display.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder with rear-wheel drive returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive, it returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The V6 returns 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Which 2021 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?
The 2021 Kia Stinger is offered in 4 trim levels: GT-Line, GT, GT1, and GT2.
Here's the short version:
- GT-Line: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Stinger experience with the standard turbo four, the 7-inch screen, wireless charging, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and the sporty cabin setup. It makes sense if you want the style and value story without stretching for the V6.
- GT: This is the performance-focused choice, adding the V6 along with variable exhaust, launch control, Brembo performance brakes, and a limited-slip differential. If you care most about driving feel and want the strongest performance for the money, this is the best-value trim.
- GT1: This is the smart upgrade if you want the V6 plus more comfort and convenience, including LED accent lighting and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. It also gets the broader driver-assistance equipment that the lower trims miss.
- GT2: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with Nappa leather, upgraded seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and the premium audio system. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Stinger experience.
Most driver assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models, so those trims are the ones to target if safety tech matters most to you.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 430 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.49% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 67.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,389, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Kia Stinger's resale value?
The current average of $25,553 sits slightly below last year's $26,755.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on broad market momentum alone.
Because the year’s pricing has eased, a well-kept example with desirable equipment should be easier to move than a neglected one. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger safe?
The 2021 Kia Stinger earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but more advanced driver-assistance features are limited to higher trims. That means you need to pay close attention to equipment if you want automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams.
The main safety caveat is that the most useful active-safety features are not standard across the lineup. If safety tech is a priority, you should focus on GT1 or GT2 examples rather than assuming every Stinger is equally equipped.
Should I buy a 2021 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.49% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It offers a distinctive, value-focused performance-luxury formula with multiple powertrain choices and strong driving appeal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $28,546, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,553 average.
- It gets a mild refresh with more power, especially for the base engine.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2021 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and the car still delivers the core Stinger experience. If you’re willing to pay more for the refreshed 2022, that makes sense mainly if the added power and updates matter enough to outweigh the price gap.
