CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Kia Stinger
overall
Summary
With 402 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,426.00, 31.8% of 2021 Kia Stingers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Kia Stinger 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.83 / 10.
68.9% of 2021 Stinger models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Kia Stinger stands out because Kia took a brand long known for value and used it to show off a sporty side. It is described as a head-turning, low-slung, four-door sports car, which makes it feel unusual for the brand and gives it a distinctive place in the lineup. For buyers looking for something different, that combination of performance and style is a big part of the appeal.
It also has a strong value story. The Stinger is presented as an absolute value performance/luxury car, and it shares underpinnings with the Genesis G70 luxury sedan while sometimes feeling more special than its upscale corporate cousin. It is also framed as a BMW 3 Series rival for thousands less, which helps explain why it can be attractive to shoppers who want a sporty luxury car without paying as much as some alternatives.
The Stinger’s strengths are reinforced by its excellent value for money, multiple powertrain options, and fun-to-drive character. Its main drawback is that advanced safety features are not standard, so buyers may need to weigh its appealing performance-and-luxury mix against that omission.

Have a 2021 GT1 AWD. Owned for 6 months. Bought used because we couldnt find a 2023 in our area we wanted. Best value compared to the Audi A5 Sportback and Mercedes CLA 250/AMG 35. The 3.3L twin turbo is a dream. My wife and I absolutely love this car.

Yes — the 2021 Kia Stinger earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
It stands out as a head-turning, low-slung, four-door sports car that gives you a sporty, distinctive alternative to more conventional luxury sedans. The value story is strong too, since it is framed as a BMW 3 Series rival for thousands less while still delivering performance and style.
The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and you may need to move up the lineup to get more of the driver-assistance equipment you want.
With 31.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Stinger’s appeal is reinforced by its strong value positioning, multiple powertrain choices, and sporty character, all of which support confidence in day-to-day ownership. Its 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty also adds a meaningful ownership cushion.
The four-cylinder model is lively and efficient, while the V6 adds stronger performance and a more dramatic exhaust note, so you can choose the setup that best fits your needs. The long-term risk for used buyers is mainly tied to making sure the car was maintained well and that any higher-performance hardware has been cared for properly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim level you expect.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The GT-Line includes a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging, dual-zone climate control, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped flat-bottom sport steering wheel. The GT1 adds LED accent lighting, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and the more powerful V6 powertrain, while the GT2 adds Nappa leather, 16-way power-adjustable sport seats with Air Cell lumbar support, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Powertrain: You get a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, or a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic, and you can choose rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams require an upgrade from the GT-Line and GT.
- Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while upgraded trims get an 8-inch display. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, and wireless device charging are included, and the GT2 adds a 15-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder with rear-wheel drive returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive, it returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The V6 returns 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Which 2021 Kia Stinger trim should I buy?
The 2021 Kia Stinger is offered in 4 trim levels: GT-Line, GT, GT1, GT2.
Here's the short version:
- GT-Line: This is the entry point, and it already gives you a strong mix of style and equipment, including the 7-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and the standard four-cylinder powertrain. It makes sense if you want the Stinger’s look and driving character at the lowest price.
- GT: This trim is the step up if you want the V6 performance and the added hardware that comes with it, including a variable exhaust system, launch control, Brembo performance brakes, and a limited-slip differential. It is the best-value choice if performance matters most.
- GT1: This is the trim to target if you want the V6 plus more comfort and convenience, including LED accent lighting and an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat. It is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it adds meaningful upgrades without jumping all the way to the top trim.
- GT2: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa leather, upgraded sport seats, heated-and-ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, sport gauges, a head-up display, and the premium audio system. Choose it if you want the most upscale Stinger experience.
Most driver assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Kia Stinger?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 420 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.86% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 67.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,370.12, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Kia Stinger's resale value?
The current average of $25,448 sits slightly below last year's $26,747.
That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the car easier to purchase now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position. The Stinger’s distinctive styling and strong value reputation should continue to support demand among shoppers looking for something different.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Kia Stinger safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Most driver assistance features are only standard on the higher-level GT1 and GT2 models, so you should pay close attention to trim level if safety tech matters to you. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, but automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, and automatic high beams require an upgrade from the GT-Line and GT.
The main safety caveat is that you may need to shop higher in the lineup to get the full suite of active safety features.
Should I buy a 2021 Kia Stinger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.86% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 stands out as an absolute value performance/luxury car with multiple powertrain choices.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $28,616, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,448 average.
- It adds more power, especially from the base engine.
The bottom line: If you want the better value and a wider pool of lower-priced listings, the 2021 is the smarter buy. If you are willing to pay more for the refreshed model’s added power and updates, the 2022 is the better choice. For most shoppers, the 2021 offers the stronger balance of price, performance, and value.
