How much does the 2021 Jeep Renegade cost?

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Renegade earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10. Owners consistently praise its great value, comfortable and fun driving experience, unique Jeep styling, and the elevated seating position that works especially well for shorter drivers. The Renegade also fits buyers who want a small SUV with practical utility and some adventure-ready character. On the downside, the base engine is underwhelming and the transmission can be irritating, so it suits you best if you value personality, easy daily use, and available capability more than quick acceleration. With 31.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for its value and the way it delivers a comfortable, easy-to-live-with driving experience over the long term. The expert review also describes it as a functional daily drivable crossover with practical utility and the ability to occasionally get off the beaten path. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about core durability and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and doesn’t have avoidable wear from harder use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Renegade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that may have seen rough roads. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re shopping. Because this model can be configured for more capability, it’s worth checking that the vehicle’s equipment matches how it was used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport comes standard with push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a USB port, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Jeepster adds keyless passive entry, remote start, 19-inch alloy wheels, and unique badging. The Latitude keeps much of the Sport’s content but adds an additional USB port and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Upland adds skid plates and a unique front bumper, while the 80th Anniversary brings 19-inch alloy wheels, HD radio, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation. The Islander adds exclusive hood graphics, white roof panels, and a dual-panel panoramic moonroof. The Limited adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and standard 4WD. The Trailhawk drops the standard leather seating but adds skid plates, tow hooks, a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and an upgraded 4WD system.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The upgraded turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder makes 177 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. Both engines use a nine-speed automatic and can be paired with FWD or available 4WD. The turbo engine is the stronger pick if you want more torque and smoother-feeling motivation.
• Safety package: Jeep made automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection standard across the lineup. The Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking. Adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors still cost extra.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 7 inches, while an 8.4-inch touchscreen is optional on some mid-tier trims and standard on higher trims. Both use Uconnect and include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A Kenwood premium audio system is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version is the 1.3-liter turbo with FWD at 24 mpg city, 32 highway, and 27 combined. With FWD, the 2.4-liter engine returns 22 mpg city, 30 highway, and 25 combined. With 4WD, the 2.4-liter returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, and 24 combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Renegade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Renegade is offered in 8 trim levels: Sport, Jeepster, Latitude, Upland, 80th Anniversary, Islander, Limited, and Trailhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it already gives you push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a USB port, and the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Renegade’s personality and tech.
• Jeepster: This trim adds keyless passive entry, remote start, 19-inch alloy wheels, and unique badging. It’s a good fit if you want a little more convenience and style without jumping too far up the ladder.
• Latitude: This trim keeps the core Sport equipment but adds an extra USB port and 17-inch alloy wheels. It’s the best-value choice if you want a modest step up without paying for more specialized equipment.
• Upland: This adventure-minded trim adds skid plates and a unique front bumper, and it comes exclusively with 4WD. Choose it if you want a more rugged look and some extra trail-ready hardware.
• 80th Anniversary: This version adds 19-inch alloy wheels, HD radio, and the larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation. It’s the trim to consider if infotainment and a more upscale feel matter to you.
• Islander: This limited-edition model adds exclusive hood graphics, white roof panels, and a dual-panel panoramic moonroof. It’s best if you want the most distinctive appearance and a more open cabin feel.
• Limited: This is the luxury-leaning trim, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and standard 4WD. It’s the right pick if comfort is your priority.
• Trailhawk: This is the capability-focused trim, with skid plates, tow hooks, a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and an upgraded 4WD system. It’s the one to buy if you want the Renegade’s most serious off-road setup.

Jeep’s standard safety features are broad across the lineup, but the Trailhawk is the exception for automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Renegade?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,519 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,100, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Renegade's resale value?

The current average of $16,100 sits slightly below last year's $18,018.

That decline suggests the Renegade has become more affordable for buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you may need to be realistic about expectations if you plan to trade or sell soon. On the other hand, a lower entry price can make the vehicle easier to move if it remains well kept and properly equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade safe?

The 2021 Jeep Renegade earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep made automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection standard across the lineup. Adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors still cost extra. The Trailhawk trim is the exception for automatic emergency braking, so you should confirm the exact safety equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Renegade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 brings standard advanced safety features across the lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $14,583, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $16,100 average.
• It emphasizes personality and off-road capability more than plain practicality.

The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the stronger market mix of value, inventory, and standard safety equipment. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2020 is the better price-first alternative, especially if you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer-year appeal.
