Used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L for Sale nearGrand Rapids, MI

How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L cost?

Prices have softened 12.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,850 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.89/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

You’ll see recurring praise for its comfortable ride, space, high-tech features, handling, and performance in snow. That lines up with the overview’s focus on three-row practicality, family use, and a more upscale feel than a basic people mover.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the lack of standard advanced safety features. It’s best suited to you if you want Jeep utility with added passenger capacity, refinement, and capability rather than maximum efficiency or a stripped-down value play.

With 37.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, there’s enough market flexibility to shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L reliable?

Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort, space, and high-tech features they can count on. The expert review also describes the Jeep Wave program, which includes three free oil changes and tire rotations within the first 36 months of ownership, plus roadside assistance during the five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty period.

That combination suggests a reassuring ownership experience, but you should still watch for wear, maintenance history, and any signs that a premium, feature-rich SUV has been used hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if it looks clean on the listing page. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, electronics, and suspension, since this SUV can be optioned heavily and may have seen family-duty use. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Cherokee L looks good across the lineup, but the base setup can feel less richly equipped than higher trims, and the review notes that some interior materials and fittings don’t fully match the price at the top end.
• Powertrain: Every model uses a standard 3.6-liter V6 with 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive or one of three 4WD systems; a 5.7-liter V8 is optional on Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve with 4WD only.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance, while Intersection Collision Assist is standard on Summit models; Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is also available.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is offered with 8.4-inch or 10.1-inch touchscreens, and it includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa compatibility, satellite radio, connected services, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 21 mpg combined, while the V8 is rated at 17 mpg combined; the test vehicle averaged 17.8 mpg on the review loop.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee L’s space and styling at the lowest starting price, but you’ll want to compare its equipment carefully against the higher trims.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim. The review explicitly calls it the sweet spot for style, equipment, and value, making it the one most shoppers should start with.
• Overland: Step here if you want a more upscale feel and are interested in the V8 option, which is available only on Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.
• Summit: This trim adds more luxury and includes Intersection Collision Assist as standard, but the value equation starts to weaken at this level.
• Summit Reserve: This is the top-end choice if you want the most lavish version, though it sits in a price range where luxury-brand alternatives become more compelling.

The safety package is a meaningful part of the trim decision: Active Driving Assist is available, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, and Summit models get Intersection Collision Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,850 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,837, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L's resale value?

The current average of $25,837 sits slightly below last year's $29,618.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the key question is whether the model’s strong appeal as a three-row Jeep with premium features keeps demand steady enough to support values.

Its broad appeal should help, especially because shoppers respond well to the comfort, space, and technology. Still, resale will depend on condition, mileage, trim, and whether the vehicle has the equipment buyers expect in this segment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L does not have crash-test ratings cited here.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assist is the named driver-assistance suite, and it combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Intersection Collision Assist is standard on Summit models, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist is available. The review also notes that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should confirm exactly which systems are included on the trim you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s the first Grand Cherokee L year, bringing Jeep’s long-missing three-row SUV back with strong handling, premium materials, and impressive technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,739, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $25,837 average.
• It adds a more polished, upscale feel and a more composed cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the better price and are comfortable shopping a first-year redesign, the 2021 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year experience and a slightly more refined presentation, the 2022 is the alternative to compare.
