The main trade-off is fairly pedestrian performance, and the expert review also notes that the Palisade is more composed than exciting when you push it. Even so, it fits well if you want a comfortable, stylish, well-equipped SUV for everyday family use. Listings show 38.2% good or great deals, which is a healthy sign of market availability.

You also get a free three-year/36,000-mile scheduled maintenance plan and a five-year/unlimited-mileage roadside assistance plan, which helps reduce early ownership stress. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and hasn’t picked up hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Hyundai Palisade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Start with a history report so you can confirm accident status, title status, and service records before you get too far into the process. Then prioritize a close inspection of the cabin, electronics, and safety equipment, since this SUV is loaded with features that should all work properly. You should also pay attention to overall condition, because the Palisade’s value depends heavily on how well it has been kept.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Calligraphy trim adds a different grille pattern, revised exterior lighting, additional lower body trim, unique 20-inch wheels, upgraded interior detailing, and a simulated suede headliner. The Limited remains appealing, but it loses some of that visual distinction and looks more like the SEL with option packages.
• Powertrain: Every Palisade uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Every Palisade includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, multiple lane-keeping systems, rear occupant alert, active blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and Safe Exit Assist. Limited and Calligraphy trims add a Blind View Monitor and a more sophisticated ultrasonic rear occupant alert system.
• Infotainment: Two touchscreen sizes are offered: 8 inches and 10.25 inches. Only the 8-inch system gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the larger screen requires a wired connection for smartphone mirroring.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 21 mpg in combined driving for an all-wheel-drive Palisade, and the test vehicle averaged 21.1 mpg on a driving loop.

Which 2021 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Palisade’s core space, style, and safety without paying for extras you may not need.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger mix of equipment and everyday usefulness without jumping to the pricier luxury-themed versions.
• Limited: This trim adds more upscale content and gets the Blind View Monitor plus the ultrasonic rear occupant alert system, making it a smart step up if you want more convenience and safety tech.
• Calligraphy: This is the most luxurious version, with the most distinctive styling and the richest cabin materials, so it suits you if you want the most premium Palisade experience.

Limited and Calligraphy trims also get the Blind View Monitor and the more advanced rear occupant alert system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Hyundai Palisade?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,153 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,555, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $22,555 sits slightly below last year's $26,169.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation. Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong feature content should hold buyer interest better than rougher or more basic ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Palisade safe?

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade earns top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Palisade includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, multiple lane-keeping systems, rear occupant alert, active blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and Safe Exit Assist. Limited and Calligraphy trims add a Blind View Monitor and a more advanced ultrasonic rear occupant alert system that can detect movement and send a text message after you leave and lock the SUV.

Highway Drive Assist is a standout feature because it combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance very effectively, but it is not designed for hands-free driving. That means you still need to keep your hands on the wheel even though the system reduces fatigue on long drives.

Should I buy a 2021 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds more standard equipment, expanded infotainment capabilities, and a new luxury-themed Calligraphy trim.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,247, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $22,555 average.
• It offers strong value, plenty of content, and a fresh upscale feel.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,356, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $22,555 average.
• It keeps the roomy, comfortable formula while adding a quiet cabin and a more polished overall presentation.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and market availability, the 2021 is the primary pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2020 is the better price-sensitive path, while the 2022 makes sense if you’re willing to pay more for a newer-year alternative.
