How much does the 2021 Genesis G80 cost?

Prices have softened 1.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 190 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Genesis G80 a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Genesis G80 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the G80 for its luxury features, smooth ride, and value for money, and they also call out its sophisticated design and spaciousness. The cabin’s premium materials and impressive technology help it feel like a serious luxury contender, especially if you want something that stands apart from the usual German rivals.

The main trade-off is the underwhelming base engine, and the expert review also notes that the car’s driving character is more cruiser than enthusiast machine. Even so, if you want a midsize luxury sedan with strong comfort, upscale presentation, and a distinctive identity, the G80 fits that brief well.

Good and great deals account for 35.8% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Genesis G80 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable, trouble-free ownership experience, with no major criticisms standing out in the reviews. That kind of feedback matters because it suggests the car is one you can count on over time, especially if you value a luxury sedan that feels well sorted day to day.

Genesis also backs the car with free maintenance, free service valet with a loaner vehicle, and three years or 36,000 miles of connected services. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car was maintained properly and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear from luxury features and complex electronics.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Genesis G80?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim car with more technology and driver-assistance equipment. Focus on overall condition, electronics, and signs that the luxury features have been used and maintained properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Prestige Package adds premium Nappa leather, a microfiber suede headliner, open-pore wood trim, and more visual luxury, while the base cabin is still upscale but less richly appointed.
• Powertrain: You can choose a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, or a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Every G80 includes a long list of driver-assist features, including collision avoidance tech, smart adaptive cruise control with machine learning, Safe Exit System, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Highway Driving Assist II, 10 airbags, and a center-mounted airbag. Prestige models add Forward Attention Warning, Blind Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera capability, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
• Infotainment: Every G80 has a 14.5-inch widescreen infotainment system with SiriusXM, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and available wireless smartphone charging. Prestige models add a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12-inch head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the 3.5T AWD test vehicle should have averaged 21 mpg in combined driving, and it returned 22.4 mpg on the test loop.

Which 2021 Genesis G80 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Genesis G80 is offered in 2 trim levels: 2.5T and 3.5T.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5T: This is the entry point, and it gives you the G80’s core luxury-sedan experience with the standard turbocharged four-cylinder. It makes sense if you want the styling, comfort, and technology without paying for the stronger engine.
• 3.5T: This is the better choice if you want the most satisfying performance, since it brings the twin-turbo V6 and the stronger overall driving experience. It’s the best-value trim if you care about power and want the G80 to feel fully premium.

The Prestige Package adds the most meaningful safety and tech upgrades, including Forward Attention Warning, Blind Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera capability, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Genesis G80?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,100, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Genesis G80's resale value?

The current average of $30,930 sits slightly below last year's $31,302.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer but may temper what a future seller can expect. If you buy at the right price now, you reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit. The G80’s premium image and strong feature content should still help it hold interest among shoppers looking for a luxury sedan with value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Genesis G80 safe?

The 2021 Genesis G80 earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Genesis equips every G80 with a long list of driver-assistance features, including collision avoidance tech, smart adaptive cruise control with machine learning, Safe Exit System, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Highway Driving Assist II, 10 airbags, and a center-mounted airbag. The Prestige Package adds Forward Attention Warning, Blind Spot View Monitor, surround-view camera capability, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

The review notes that Highway Driving Assist II works well, but its lane-change assistance did not actively steer the car during testing. That’s worth keeping in mind if you’re expecting the system to behave like the most advanced hands-free-style setups.

Should I buy a 2021 Genesis G80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings bold styling, premium materials, and a strong technology upgrade over the previous generation.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It adds a more polished cabin and a clearer luxury-sedan identity.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2021 if you want the redesigned G80 at a softer price and value strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year’s refinement, the 2022 is the better upgrade path; if you’re price-sensitive, the 2021 is the smarter buy.
