How much does the 2021 GMC Yukon XL cost?

Prices have softened 14.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,527 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

Yes — the 2021 GMC Yukon XL earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its luxury feel, spacious interior, and comfort on long trips, and many also like how agile it feels despite its large size. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a full-size SUV with serious passenger and cargo space, especially if you value a more upscale experience. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also emphasizes that it feels dependable and comfortable for long trips, with many drivers saying they can count on its spaciousness and upscale character. Some buyers do mention concerns about the brakes and prefer the diesel option over the gasoline engine choices, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle has been used. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure a large, heavily used SUV has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Yukon XL?

At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on braking performance, suspension condition, and signs of heavy family or towing use. Because this is a large, premium SUV, you will want to pay close attention to interior wear, electronics, and overall maintenance records.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Yukon XL?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,527 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,829, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $39,829 sits slightly below last year's $46,413.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years. For a future seller, the key question is whether the SUV continues to hold demand as a spacious, upscale family hauler. Well-kept examples should remain attractive because buyers in this segment often prioritize condition, equipment, and comfort over age alone.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the newer-generation Yukon XL with a more modern ride, more space, and strong owner approval, the 2021 is the better default choice. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you should expect to give up some of the 2021's updated feel and refinement.
