How much does the 2021 GMC Yukon XL cost?

Prices have softened 14.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,500 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL a good car?

Yes — the 2021 GMC Yukon XL earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its luxury feel, spacious interior, and comfort on long trips, and many also like its agility despite its large size and its powerful engine. For you, that makes it especially appealing if you want a full-size SUV that can handle family duty, road trips, and upscale daily use. The market also shows 39.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also emphasizes that it feels dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with many drivers saying they can count on it for long trips and regular family hauling. The main concerns center more on braking and engine preference than on broad reliability complaints, which is a useful distinction for used buyers. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is less about the overall ownership experience and more about finding a well-maintained example with a clean service history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Yukon XL?

At 74.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for braking performance, suspension condition, and signs of heavy family or towing use. Because this is a large, premium SUV, condition matters a lot: a well-kept example can feel excellent, while a neglected one can be expensive to bring back up to standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Yukon XL?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 39.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,500 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,168, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Yukon XL's resale value?

The current average of $40,171 sits slightly below last year's $46,747.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on how well your vehicle is maintained and how clean its history is. Strong condition, desirable equipment, and a clean accident record should help it stand out when you eventually list it.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Yukon XL or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 39.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

If you want the version with the more modern ride and handling, the 2021 is the one to target, especially if you value the extra comfort and space that come with the updated design. If your main goal is to minimize upfront cost, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you should expect to give up some of the 2021’s refinement and overall appeal.
