Used 2021 GMC Yukon for Sale nearBirmingham, AL

How much does the 2021 GMC Yukon cost?

Prices have softened 15.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,433 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon a good car?

Yes — the 2021 GMC Yukon earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, spacious interior, and impressive tech features. They also describe the ride as extremely comfortable, and many say it stands out in its class. That lines up with the Yukon’s use case as a large SUV for buyers who want more accommodating space and a more polished road feel.

The trade-offs are real, though: the expert review points to poor fuel economy and uncomfortable seats, along with interior materials that feel cheap. Even so, the Yukon’s strong space, tech, and premium-leaning presentation make it appealing if you want a full-size SUV that feels more upscale than basic.

With 36.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with owners emphasizing the Yukon’s strong overall appeal and comfort over time. The expert review reinforces that sense of durability by describing the SUV as a capable, advanced full-size vehicle that improves passenger space, cargo space, and ride quality.

The redesign also adds a more sophisticated suspension setup and improved handling, which supports confidence in everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, complex SUV can be expensive to keep in top shape if prior maintenance was neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 GMC Yukon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re considering, even if it looks clean on paper. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the suspension, brakes, electronics, and cabin condition, since this is a large, feature-rich SUV. Focus especially on signs of wear in the seats and interior materials, because those are known weak points.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali each bring different levels of refinement, with the Denali standing apart through its exclusive dashboard design, real wood trim, leather-wrapped panels, unique stitching and piping, and available panoramic sunroof. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, especially if you care about a more upscale cabin.
• Powertrain: The standard 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 is the default engine on all but the Denali, while the Denali gets a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8. A 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder is also mentioned as an option for most versions, and the review notes that the V8s deliver strong acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, daytime pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking below 50 mph, automatic high-beam headlights, Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder, and OnStar crash response and crisis assistance. Starting with SLT, you also get blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance, while rear pedestrian alert is standard on Denali.
• Infotainment: Every 2021 Yukon gets a 10.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, over-the-air updates, and access to connected services. Higher trims can add wireless charging, navigation, a 14-speaker Bose system, and rear-seat entertainment with dual 12.6-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says fuel economy can be poor, and it cites a 2021 Yukon with 4WD and the 6.2-liter V8 at 14 mpg city, 19 highway, and 16 combined.

Which 2021 GMC Yukon trim should I buy?

The 2021 GMC Yukon is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SLE: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Yukon’s space, tech, and core capability without paying for upscale extras. It gives you the basic formula, but it’s also the trim most likely to feel sparse compared with the higher versions.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds important safety equipment like blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. If you want a more complete daily-driver setup without jumping all the way to Denali pricing, this is the one to focus on.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the Yukon’s more rugged character and the off-road-oriented hardware described in the review, including improved approach angle, skid plates, and all-terrain tires. It’s the trim for buyers who want a more adventurous look and capability.
• Denali: This is the luxury pick, with the exclusive dashboard design, real wood trim, leather-wrapped panels, unique stitching and piping, and available panoramic sunroof. It also gets adaptive cruise control and enhanced automatic emergency braking, making it the most fully equipped choice.

Starting with SLT, the Yukon adds key driver-assistance features, while Denali brings the most complete safety and luxury package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Yukon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,433 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,773, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 GMC Yukon's resale value?

The current average of $40,773 sits slightly below last year's $48,163.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong demand for large SUVs with lots of space and tech can also help support resale interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 GMC Yukon safe?

The 2021 GMC Yukon earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, daytime pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking below 50 mph, automatic high-beam headlights, Teen Driver, a rear-seat reminder, and OnStar crash response and crisis assistance. Starting with SLT, you also get blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. Rear pedestrian alert is standard on Denali, and adaptive cruise control plus enhanced automatic emergency braking are also reserved for Denali.

The available driver-assistance suite works in a subtle, polished way, which makes it easier to leave engaged during everyday driving. One caveat is that crash-test ratings were unavailable in the source material.

Should I buy a 2021 GMC Yukon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings more passenger space, more cargo space, and a significant technology upgrade.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $45,570, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $40,773 average.
• It adds a standard 12-inch driver information center.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter starting point because it already delivers the redesign benefits at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a few added features, the 2022 is the cleaner upgrade path.
