Summary
With 267 currently listed for sale near Cincinnati, OH and an average price of $31,905.00, 31.8% of 2021 Ford Mustangs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Ford Mustang 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Ford Mustang stands out by blending its classic pony-car identity with modern technology and a hyper-stylized look. It is described as an iconic model that straddles the past and present, and for 2021 Ford added a new Mach 1 trim to the lineup. That combination gives the Mustang a distinctive appeal: it still leans into its heritage, but it also feels current enough to attract buyers who want performance without giving up contemporary features.
It is also appealing because its trim lineup and feature list make it welcoming to performance enthusiasts looking for relatively affordable driving fun. The Mustang’s strengths include stylish design, fun-to-drive character, and the availability of a manual transmission. At the same time, it has some practical drawbacks, including poor visibility, a cramped back seat, and not much cargo space, so buyers are still choosing it more for excitement than everyday utility.

The 2021 Mustang GT Premium is fantastic! Digital dash, comfortable leather seats (we have the 401A package), and that 5.0 Cayote engine...nothing sounds like it! Also, in my opinion, this generation is the BEST LOOKING Mustang of all time! Fantastic!

How much does the 2021 Ford Mustang cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $31,519 |
| Year-Round Low | $28,501.61 |
| Year-Round High | $31,822.56 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $31,672 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.48% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 2,148 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare. If you find a listing below $28,501.61, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Ford Mustang a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Ford Mustang earns a 4.71/5 user rating, and our experts give it an 8.17/10 overall rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its performance, looks, and features, and many say it delivers real driving excitement. The review summary also points to strong styling and decent fuel economy for a V8, which helps explain why it appeals to buyers who want fun without giving up modern features. On the trade-off side, the expert review notes poor visibility and a cramped back seat, so it fits you better if you care more about driving enjoyment than everyday practicality. With 30.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback emphasizes a car that feels exciting, well-liked, and satisfying to live with over time, with praise centered on performance and overall enjoyment. The expert review also frames the Mustang as a modern take on a familiar formula, with enough contemporary equipment to keep it feeling current. Ford’s standard driver-assistance suite and the car’s solid fit-and-finish help support confidence in day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car was maintained well, especially if it was driven hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Mustang?
At 74.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has performance upgrades or a modified suspension. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any evidence that the car was driven aggressively or repaired after damage. Condition matters a lot here because the Mustang’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been cared for.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base EcoBoost includes 17-inch alloy wheels, manual seats, pushbutton start, power windows, a leather-wrapped shift knob, 4G LTE WiFi, a six-speaker stereo, and the basic Sync system with a 4.2-inch touchscreen. EcoBoost Premium adds 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, heated and cooled front seats, and Sync 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. GT models add the 5.0-liter V8 and related exterior upgrades, while GT Premium adds leather-trimmed front seats and more comfort features. The Mach 1 adds more performance-focused hardware and a fully digital instrument panel.
- Powertrain: The EcoBoost uses a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, or 330 hp with the High-Performance Package. The GT’s 5.0-liter V8 makes 460 hp and 420 lb-ft, while the Mach 1 raises output to 480 hp. Both engines can be paired with a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic, and the car is rear-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and parking sensors still cost extra.
- Infotainment: The base car gets a 4.2-inch display with voice controls. Sync 3 brings an 8-inch touchscreen plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it is standard on Premium trims or available as an option.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version is the EcoBoost with the 10-speed automatic, at 21 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The GT with the automatic returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The Mach 1 is estimated at 15 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.
Which 2021 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?
The 2021 Ford Mustang is offered in 5 trim levels: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Mach 1.
Here's the short version:
- EcoBoost: This is the value play if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest entry price. You get the turbocharged four-cylinder, standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech, and the core Mustang look and feel without paying for extra comfort features.
- EcoBoost Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 8-inch Sync 3 touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone climate control, and other comfort upgrades that make daily use easier.
- GT: Choose this if you want the V8 experience and care more about performance than luxury features. It adds the 5.0-liter engine and the more aggressive character that many Mustang buyers are after.
- GT Premium: This is the right pick if you want the V8 plus more comfort and a more upscale cabin. It builds on the GT with leather-trimmed front seats and additional convenience features.
- Mach 1: This is the enthusiast choice if you want the most serious factory performance in this lineup. It adds more power, chassis upgrades, Brembo brakes, and a more focused driving setup.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard across the lineup, but adaptive cruise control and parking sensors still require extra cost.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Mustang?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,148 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 74.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $28,501.61, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $31,519 sits slightly below last year's $31,672.
That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to resell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate future value because the model is not showing a sharp drop in demand. The Mustang’s broad appeal and strong enthusiast following also help support pricing over time, especially for well-kept examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Ford Mustang safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford’s standard CoPilot360 suite includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. That gives you a strong set of standard driver-assistance features for a sports car, though adaptive cruise control and parking sensors still cost extra. The expert review also notes that visibility is good for an American sports car, which helps everyday confidence behind the wheel.
Should I buy a 2021 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 74.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford added the new Mach 1 trim, giving this year extra performance appeal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $26,525, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $31,519 average.
- It offers multiple powertrain choices and strong value for performance-minded buyers.
The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year appeal, the added Mach 1 trim, and a stable market, the 2021 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the smarter path and still gives you the Mustang formula at a lower price.
