Used 2021 Ford Expedition for Sale nearSaint Paul, MN

How much does the 2021 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 15.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,411 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford Expedition earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfort, and strong performance, and they also like how easy it is to drive. The helpful 360 camera is another recurring strength in owner feedback.

The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and fuel economy is poor. Even so, this SUV fits you best if you need a large vehicle for towing, hauling cargo, or carrying passengers on a regular basis.

With 36.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have enough market choice to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on spaciousness, comfort, and strong performance. The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Expedition as a practical, useful SUV for regular towing, hauling, and people-moving duties.

Ford’s standard driver-assistance suite adds another layer of everyday confidence, and the available 360-degree camera can make a large SUV easier to place in tight spaces. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright fragility and more about the costs that come with a big, heavy SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on tires, brakes, suspension, and any signs of heavy towing or hard use. Because this is a large SUV, condition matters as much as mileage when you are comparing examples.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the XL STX and moves through XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. The Platinum is the most luxurious version, while the standard-length model and the extended-length MAX version give you different space priorities.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or 4WD. Output is 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque in most versions, with the Platinum rated at 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. More advanced features such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and semi-autonomous parking assistance are available starting with Limited trim.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 uses an 8-inch touchscreen and includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, FordPass Connect services, an available 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, navigation, and Amazon Alexa compatibility.
• Fuel efficiency: The Expedition averaged 17.1 mpg on the evaluation loop, and EPA ratings say the 4WD version should return 19 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2021 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford Expedition is offered in 5 trim levels: XL STX, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL STX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Expedition’s core space and capability without paying for luxury extras.
• XLT: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of value and equipment, especially because it sits above the base model without jumping too far in price.
• Limited: This is the smart upgrade if you want more convenience and access to available advanced driver-assistance features.
• King Ranch: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for it.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with the strongest output in the lineup and the richest feature set.

Ford’s safety package starts with Co-Pilot360, while more advanced driver-assistance features begin at Limited trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Expedition?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,411 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,366, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $30,366 sits slightly below last year's $36,115.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because this is a large SUV with strong utility appeal, well-kept examples should continue to attract buyers who need towing, cargo, and passenger space. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2021 Expedition earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA, with three-star rollover resistance for RWD models and four-star rollover resistance for 4WD models.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Starting with Limited trim, you can get adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and semi-autonomous parking assistance, and a 360-degree surround-view camera is also available.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should pay close attention to trim level if driver assistance matters to you.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains a practical, useful full-size SUV for towing, hauling, and carrying people.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,123, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $30,366 average.
• It emphasizes space and capability with three rows, strong towing, and generous cargo room.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $38,986, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $30,366 average.
• It adds a more distinctive look and stronger overall appeal with impressive technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and current market availability, the 2021 is the sensible default. If your priority is spending less, the 2020 is the better value path; if you want to pay more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2022 is the step up to compare.
