Used 2021 Dodge Challenger for Sale near New Jersey

How much does the 2021 Dodge Challenger cost?

Prices have softened 3.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,397 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of choices to compare trims and condition.

Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.88/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its power, comfort, and unique styling, and they also highlight the impressive technology, features, and driving experience. The Challenger’s appeal is strongest if you want a car that leans hard into straight-line speed, personality, and a distinctive muscle-car feel.

The trade-offs are clear: handling is outclassed by rivals, the back seat is cramped, and advanced safety features are not standard. That makes it a better fit if you value character and performance over all-around versatility.

With 31.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels powerful, comfortable, and dependable enough to inspire confidence over time. The review summary also emphasizes the driving experience and the sense that the car delivers what buyers expect from it, which matters when you’re looking for a used performance car you can count on.

The expert review also describes the Challenger’s powertrain lineup as backed by a full warranty and notes that it offers reliable power for buyers who want a limited but highly loyal kind of ownership experience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the engine concept and more about finding an example that hasn’t been abused or neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Dodge Challenger?

At 69.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-performance trim. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any evidence that the car has been driven aggressively or modified.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SXT is decent but plain, while higher trims add more visual presence, richer materials, and more aggressive styling cues. The SXT can be ordered with dark 20-inch wheels and Nappa leather, while GT and R/T models add a central air scoop and a wide front air dam; upper trims bring softer Nappa leather seats, contrast stitching, faux-suede headliners, carbon fiber on the dash, and thicker steering wheels with metal shift paddles.
• Powertrain: The lineup ranges from a 3.6-liter V6 in the SXT and GT to a 5.7-liter V8 in the R/T, a 6.4-liter V8 in the R/T Scat Pack, and supercharged 6.2-liter V8 versions in Hellcat models. The V6 is quiet and efficient but not fun, while the V8s bring much stronger performance and more serious hardware.
• Safety package: The Challenger’s safety content includes blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise as the only other driver assists available, and the optional forward emergency braking feature was rated only at the lowest basic level. Advanced safety features are not standard, so trim and option content matter here.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8.4-inch screen is available and should be the one to seek out, and the system also offers Performance Pages for real-time vehicle data and performance recording.
• Fuel efficiency: The performance review notes fuel economy can reach 30 mpg or 20 mpg depending on configuration, while Hellcat models can drop below 10 mpg. The V6 is described as quiet and efficient, but the exact mpg figure is not stated there.

Which 2021 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2021 Dodge Challenger is offered in 5 trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, and SRT Hellcat.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Challenger’s style and basic V6 setup at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the look and space without paying for V8 power, but it’s the least exciting choice dynamically.
• GT: Choose this if you want the V6 with a bit more presence and the available all-wheel-drive setup. It still won’t deliver the excitement of the V8 trims, but it broadens the car’s usability.
• R/T: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it’s the most affordable V8 model and adds the 375-hp 5.7-liter V8, a six-speed manual, active exhaust, and upgraded suspension. If you want the Challenger experience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the sweet spot.
• R/T Scat Pack: Step here if you want a major jump in performance, with the 6.4-liter V8, Brembo brakes, adaptive Bilstein dampers, and six-piston front brakes. It’s the right pick if you care more about serious muscle-car hardware than everyday comfort.
• SRT Hellcat: This is the best-value performance choice if you want maximum output, with 717 hp and the strongest straight-line punch in the lineup. It also adds serious cooling and launch-focused hardware, making it the trim for buyers who want the most extreme version of the car.

Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise are the only other driver assists available, and advanced safety features are not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Dodge Challenger?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,397 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,180, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $31,496 sits slightly below last year's $32,681.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car has been maintained.

Because the Challenger has a loyal audience and strong enthusiast appeal, well-kept examples should continue to draw attention. Higher-performance trims and clean history examples are likely to hold demand better than rougher, higher-mileage cars.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2021 Dodge Challenger earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, but it also earns four-star ratings for the driver in a frontal crash and for rollover testing, and five-star ratings for the passenger in a frontal crash and for side impact.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Challenger’s safety suite includes blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise, and the optional forward emergency braking feature was rated only at the lowest basic level. The expert review also flags the car’s old body structure, with IIHS results that include acceptable roof strength and head restraints, marginal small-overlap front performance for the driver, and poor body-structure performance.

Should I buy a 2021 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out as a serious, high-tech dragster with broad powertrain variety and strong performance value.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,931, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $31,496 average.
• It blends retro styling with modern technology and heart-pounding performance.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market value, enthusiast appeal, and trim variety, the 2021 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2021’s market context, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path.
